RV Rajmahal Review
Review of RV Rajmahal
RV Rajmahal cruises in India on the Ganges and Hooghly rivers, operating regularly scheduled itineraries since mid-February 2014. Her itineraries include 5-day roundtrips from Kolkata/Calcutta and 7-day voyages between Patna and Farakka Barrage.
The riverboat is owned by the Indian river cruise company ABN (Assam Bengal Navigation) and is often chartered by travel companies AmaWaterways-APT River Cruises (Australia) and Phoenix Reisen (Germany). The vessel was built in Kolkata, India. She is powered by three engines and features an extra-shallow draft and a lower profile compared to conventionally designed Ganges River vessels. This design allows RV Rajmahal to cruise much farther upstream than any of her competitors.

Cabins
Rajmahal has a total of 22 cabins, including 18 double cabins (205 ft2 / 19 m2). Most are located on the Upper Deck, with 4 on the Main Deck. The ship also has 4 single cabins (170 ft2 / 16 m2), for which the line charges no single supplement. All staterooms feature French balconies, including those offered at single-occupancy rates.
Shipboard facilities
The ship features stylish decor with refined touches of colonial elegance. Hand-blocked cotton fabrics with Indian-inspired designs are used throughout. Facilities include a comfortable bar, saloon, and restaurant, as well as a canopied sundeck. The small spa offers a wide range of massages and treatments.
All public areas and passenger cabins are air-conditioned. Cuisine onboard is a blend of Continental and Assamese dishes, the latter generally milder than most Indian cuisine. Beer, wine, and spirits are available. The onboard language is English, and the onboard currency is EUR.
