Review of DCS Amethyst 2

The 1999-built (fka River Rhapsody) cruise ship DCS Amethyst 2 was initially named "MS Chubasco XFE". The riverboat joined the GCCL-Grand Circle Cruise Line fleet in 2007, when it was renamed to "River Rhapsody".

The shipowner is Grand Circle Corporation via its subsidiary company Grand Circle Travel USA (Boston MA-headquartered travel agency).

The current ship charterer is the German cruise company and travel brand DCS Touristik.

Sisterships are the same-designed VistaBelle (2000/Viking Burgundy), Crucestar (2000/Viking Rhone), River Harmony (1999), MS Vivienne (2001/River Concerto), MS Aurora (1999-built/2020-refitted, MMSI 244660956, ENI 02002173).

The vessel (ENI number 07001722) is currently Malta-flagged (MMSI 256894000) and registered in Valletta.

DCS Amethyst 2's max passenger capacity is 140 (plus 34 crew/staff).
