Arosa Luna Review

Review of Arosa Luna

A-Rosa Luna cruises in France along the Rhone and Saone rivers, departing from its homeport in Lyon. The other A-Rosa riverboat operating in France is her sistership, Stella. Both vessels, Luna and Stella, are registered in Germany (Rostock).

Cabins

A-Rosa Luna has a total of 89 cabins (60 with French Balconies, 29 with non-opening windows) across four categories. The ship features three cabin decks, with each stateroom measuring 156 sq. feet and offering private bathrooms and interactive televisions. Cabins on Decks Two and Three are fitted with French verandahs. All cabins are light-filled, stylish, and comfortably spacious.

Shipboard Facilities

A-Rosa Luna’s dining and lounge options include: the Market Restaurant (main dining venue on Deck Three, focused on Mediterranean cuisine), the Cafe Restaurant (al fresco dining), the Wine Bar (for regional tastings and food pairings), and the Luna Lounge & Bar (hosting shows and lectures). The Sun Deck features bar and grill stations, shaded observation areas, deck games, a swimming pool, shuffleboard, a putting green, and a giant chess board.

Highlights include the spacious onboard spa complex, which features two saunas, a massage room offering traditional and Hawaiian Lomilomi treatments, and a gym. The open-air pool on the Sun Deck is ideal for enjoying scenic views while cruising.

A-Rosa Luna’s all-inclusive cruise deals cover Wi-Fi, shore excursions (including guided bicycle tours), motorcoach transfers, live entertainment (with local performers and enrichment lectures), food and wine tastings, alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, spirits), 24-hour coffee and tea, and daily replenished bottled water.

Prices for A-Rosa Luna cruises are per person based on double occupancy. Listed rates are indicative only and may vary depending on promotions, agency discounts, group bookings, or last-minute offers.

River Cruise Itineraries

  • “ROUTE GOURMET”: Wine-themed cruise from Lyon visiting Tournus, Chalon, Macon, Viviers, Arles, and Avignon. The 5-day version, “ROUTE LUNA,” omits Tournus but includes Chalon, Macon, Viviers, Arles, and Avignon.
  • “ROUTE RENDEZVOUS”: A 5-day itinerary from Lyon visiting Viviers, Arles, Avignon, and Vienne.
  • Most A-Rosa Luna itineraries in France are “food and wine” themed, exploring renowned chateaux, quaint towns, and villages in Burgundy and Provence—two of France’s most celebrated wine regions.

The A-Rosa Luna itinerary program is similar to that of A-Rosa Stella, featuring Southern France cruises through Provence and Burgundy:

Arosa Luna Wiki

As the first of the line's two same-class vessels, A-Rosa Luna's sistership is A-Rosa Stella, which also operates in France. Each ship is powered by two MTU marine diesel engines (Maybach model "16V 2000 M60") with a combined output of 1600 kW / 2100 HP. The propulsion system features a Schottel "Z-drive" setup, which includes two rudder propellers (type "STP 500" twin propellers) and one Schottel Pump Jet azimuth thruster (model "SPJ 57"). The ship's wheelhouse (bridge) and top deck awnings can be lowered to safely pass under low bridges.

A-Rosa Luna provides complimentary bicycles for use during land tours and excursions at each visited port.

A-Rosa Luna and A-Rosa Stella were officially launched and christened on April 7, 2005, in Rostock, Germany, and commenced their maiden voyages on the Rhone River in France on May 7.

The name “Luna” is shared with other ships, including the cruise ships AIDAluna and Norwegian Luna, the ferry Luna Seaways, and the riverboat Emerald Luna.
