Arosa Riva Wiki
ARosa Riva cruises on the Danube River and belongs to the same class as the A-Rosa ships Bella, Donna, and Mia. Each of these vessels is powered by two MTU/Maybach marine diesel engines (model "16V 2000 M60") delivering a total output of 1600 kW / 2170 HP. The ship's electrical system includes three MAN diesel generators (model D2842, each with a 380 kW output) and one emergency generator (Deutz, 37 kW).
Propulsion is provided by a Schottel system, which includes two twin propellers (type "STP 550") and one Schottel Pump Jet (azimuth bow thruster, model "SPJ 57"). The wheelhouse and awnings can be lowered to allow passage under low bridges. During port visits, the Riva ship offers complimentary bicycles for use during shore excursions and land tours.
A-Rosa Riva was launched on April 9, 2004. Due to her width of 14.4 meters, she could not be delivered via the standard route (North Sea–Baltic Canal–Wadden Sea–Rhine River). Because the Main-Danube Canal has a width restriction of 11.4 meters, the ship was instead transported on pontoons, towed through the Black Sea to the Danube Delta (Constanta, Romania). From there, she was unloaded and continued under her own power to Oltenita, Romania. The entire transfer took 22 days.
Until 2020, the vessel (ENI number 4802780) was registered in Germany (MMSI 211160710). Her flag state was later changed to Switzerland (MMSI 269057664).
