MS Johanna Review

Review of MS Johanna

The MS Johanna cruise ship is a riverboat (Flussschiff) owned and operated by the German travel company “Donauschiffahrt Wurm + Kock” (“Danube Shipping”), headquartered in Passau, Germany. The ship is homeported in Passau and operates one-day cruise trips on the Danube River.

The vessel was launched in 1978 by the shipbuilder Hitzler-Werft at its shipyard in Regensburg, Germany. It was reconstructed in 2003 by OSWAG-Werft in Linz, Austria. The ship has a draft of 1.3 m and a total power output of 992 hp. Its maximum passenger capacity is 600. The total number of indoor seats is 343, distributed between 208 on the Entrance Deck and 135 on the Middle Deck. Each deck features a buffet counter (kitchen). Forward on the Middle Deck is the Navigation Bridge (called the “Wheelhouse” on riverboats). The vessel also has two outdoor (open-air) deck areas — the Foredeck (with bench seating) and the Aftdeck (with 4-seat tables for al fresco dining). A Sun Deck (Observation Deck) with bench seating is located above.
