Arosa Aqua ship related cruise news

Arosa Aqua Wiki

The A-Rosa Aqua river ship is the first of three sisterships in the same class, followed by A-Rosa Brava and A-Rosa Viva. Each vessel is powered by four energy-efficient "Volvo Penta" diesel engines (model D12-450MH) with a total output of 1320 kW / 1800 HP. They are also equipped with two auxiliary diesel generators and one additional generator for in-port operations. Propulsion is provided by "Schottel" systems—specifically, one bow thruster (type SPJ 82) and four rudder propellers (type STP 200, with twin propellers). The wheelhouse/bridge and the top deck’s awnings can be lowered to allow safe passage under low bridges. These three vessels reflect the elegant A-Rosa ship design that preceded the line’s newer "Balcony Suite" ships, Flora and Silva. A-Rosa Aqua also offers complimentary bicycles for use during land tours and shore excursions at each port of call.

A-Rosa Aqua was launched on March 27, 2009. The ship was christened in Cologne by Mrs. Inge Kampwerth, who won the contest for the "most charming Kolnerin." A week before the naming ceremony, Captain Michael Hofmann navigated the vessel under its own power through the North Sea-Baltic Canal from Rostock to Cologne. During the March 2009 transfer, the ship was protected with wood paneling.
