Stena Nautica ferry Wiki
In September 1983, DSB ("Danish State Railways" - Denmark's largest train operating company) ordered 2 ships to serve the Danish route Arhus-Kalundborg. The first ship was delivered in 1985 and named "Peder Paars" (currently Color Viking). The second was delivered in 1986 and named "Niels Klim" (renamed to "Stena Nautica" in 1991). In 1995, the ferry started a regularly scheduled service on the Sweden-Denmark route Varberg-Grena.
In 2002, the ship was majorly reconstructed. During the drydock refit, its lower passenger deck was converted into car deck, resulting in increased gross tonnage (from 11602 to 19763 tons), reduced passenger capacity (from 2000 to 653) and increased freight capacity (from 604 to 1235 lane meters).
The ship is powered by two MAN marine diesel engines (model 6L45GB) with combined output 12,5 MW. The propulsion system consists of 3 thrusters (2 at the bow, 1 stern) and 2 controllable pitch propellers.
The ferry's namesake among cruise ships is Oceania Nautica.
