Stena Scandinavica ferry Wiki

The vessel was launched on September 7, 2002, and has one sistership - Stena Adventurer (currently deployed on the Wales UK-Ireland route Holyhead-Dublin). Both ferries were built by HHI (Hyundai Heavy Industries) at the shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.

In September 2018, on Stena Scandinavica was started a pilot study for reducing fuel consumption via artificial intelligence (AI) technology provided by Hitachi. The model was developed to help to predict the most fuel-efficient way of vessel operation on a specific route. The AI project was successfully tested on the Goteborg-Kiel route. STENA LINE plans to reduce the fleet's fuel consumption by 2,5 % annually. In 2018, STENA's fleet consisted of 38 ships.

In 2019-Q4, the software (Stena Fuel Pilot) was installed on 5 other Stena RoPax vessels, with scheduled fleetwide implementation (on all vessels) in 2020.

The vessel was UK-flagged (MMSI 235547000) but in 2020 its flag-state was changed to Sweden (MMSI 266343000).
