Stena Nautica ferry Wiki

In September 1983, DSB ("Danish State Railways"—Denmark's largest train operating company) ordered two ships to serve the Danish route Arhus–Kalundborg. The first vessel was delivered in 1985 and named "Peder Paars" (currently Color Viking). The second was delivered in 1986 and named "Niels Klim" (renamed "Stena Nautica" in 1991). In 1995, the ferry began regularly scheduled service on the Sweden–Denmark route Varberg–Grena.

In 2002, the ship underwent a major reconstruction. During the drydock refit, its lower passenger deck was converted into a car deck, resulting in increased gross tonnage (from 11,602 to 19,763 tons), reduced passenger capacity (from 2,000 to 653), and increased freight capacity (from 604 to 1,235 lane meters).

The ship is powered by two MAN marine diesel engines (model 6L45GB) with a combined output of 12.5 MW. The propulsion system consists of three thrusters (two at the bow and one at the stern) and two controllable pitch propellers.

The ferry's namesake among cruise ships is Oceania Nautica.
