Stena Spirit ferry Wiki
Due to construction delays, the vessel was launched in 1988 under the name "Stena Scandinavica" (used until 2011). She was the second in a series of four ferries ordered by STENA LINE in 1980. Due to construction delays at the Gdansk shipyard, the final two shipbuilding orders were canceled.
In 1988, the vessel entered service on the Sweden-Germany route Goteborg-Kiel, joining her fleetmate (and sister ship) Stena Germanica (currently Stena Vision). In April 2011, this route was taken over by the current Stena Scandinavica (launched in 2003).
Following an extensive drydock refit in 2011, the ship was renamed "Stena Spirit" and began her current Sweden-Poland service. During the 2011 reconstruction, the ferry's passenger capacity was reduced (from 2,374 to 1,700), while her car capacity was increased (from 550 to 570).
The vessel was previously Sweden-flagged (MMSI 265200000), but in 2020 her flag state was changed to the Bahamas (MMSI 311058100). In 2023, the ship's registry was transferred from The Bahamas to Denmark (MMSI 219031605).
