Car decks

The ship has three garage decks: lower (Deck 3, for freight), middle (Deck 4, for mixed vehicles), and upper (Deck 5, for passenger cars only). D-Class DFDS ferries are designed with separate garage decks for cars and trucks, helping to reduce roll-on/roll-off times.

Delft Seaways ferry Wiki

In 2003, Norfolkline (a subsidiary of Maersk Shipping Denmark) placed an order with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI, a South Korean corporation) for three Ro-Pax ferries to replace older vessels on the cross-channel Dunkerque–Dover route. The vessel Maersk Delft began her maiden voyage on February 27, 2006, replacing MS Northern Merchant. In July 2010, following the acquisition of Norfolkline by DFDS Seaways, the ship was renamed "Delft Seaways." She is UK-flagged (MMSI 235009590).

The ship's powerplant comprises four MAN marine diesel engines (model 8L48/60B) with a combined power output of 38.4 MW. Her propulsion system includes two controllable-pitch propellers, three bow thrusters (total power 5.4 MW), one stern thruster (1.8 MW), and two Becker rudders.

In February 2016, all three D-Class DFDS ships—Dunkerque Seaways, Delft Seaways, and Dover Seaways—entered drydock at Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque for a three-week refit and general maintenance. Works included hull and superstructure repainting (with the company’s new livery), propulsion system overhauls (thrusters and rudders), engine maintenance, and upgrades to bow door hardware and software.

Delft Seaways’ 2020 drydock was part of DFDS’s GBP 3 million (EUR 3.3 M / USD 3.6 M) refurbishment project covering all three D-Class ships. The refit introduced the Relax Lounge, featuring luxury reclining (airplane-style) chairs. Seats in the Relax Lounge are available at an additional charge starting from GBP 6 per person (one way), depending on availability, and include a RITUALS Karma cosmetics gift set. The Relax Lounge is a child-free area (guests must be 16 or older).

During the 2020 refit, the Premium Lounge was also fully renovated with new furniture and modern décor. Open 24 hours and accessible to all ages, the Premium Lounge offers seat pricing from GBP 12 per person (one way), which includes complimentary beverages (wine by the glass), gourmet snacks, and pastries. The a la carte menu features a selection of hot and cold drinks and hot meals. Additional upgrades included renovations to the Horizon Restaurant, all public restrooms, and the installation of new HDTVs in the Lighthouse Café.
