MS Douro Prince Review
Review of MS Douro Prince
The 2002-built MS Douro Prince cruise ship has passenger capacity 48 (plus 16 crew/staff). Douro River itineraries are from homeport Oporto (roundtrip departures) and visit ports in Portugal and Spain (Vega de Terron-Salamanca).
The riverboat is owned by Mystic Cruises and operated via its subsidiary company Douro Azul (Portugal).
The ship is exclusively chartered by Nicko Cruises (Mystic's German brand and fully-owned subsidiary company).
The vessel is Portugal-flagged (MMSI number TBA) and registered in Lisbon. The shipbuilder is WestSEA (shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal).
The ship features a bar lounge, elegant dining room restaurant (single-sitting capacity), gift shop, cozy sundeck. Staterooms include 1x Suite and 23 cabins. All staterooms are outside, elegantly decorated, with en-suite bathrooms, HDTVs, individually controlled air-conditioning.
Main Deck cabins are sized 11 m2 (120 ft2) and with floor-ceiling windows opening to a private step-out balcony.
Upper Deck cabins are with large picture windows and slightly larger (sized 12 m2 / 130 ft2), except rooms 214 and 219 that are smaller (9 m2 / 95 ft2).
The only Suite is sized 21 m2 (225 ft2). All cabin bathrooms are with WC-shower, and only the suite has a bathtub.
Standard cabins feature twin beds (positioned separately or together, converting to a large double bed). The suite has a fixed double bed (can't be converted to twin beds). Bottled water is available complimentary in all cabins, at the bar and also on all tours and excursions ashore.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the airy and bright restaurant located on the Main deck. The spacious dining room serves delicious international and local traditional Portuguese dishes. The restaurant has capacity to seat all guests in one open sitting, as most tables seat 6 people. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style affairs, while dinner is waiter-served.
