Review of MS Douro Prince
MS Douro Prince is an intimate river cruise ship with itineraries exclusively in Portugal (on Douro River). Deprtures are roundtrip from Oporto. The itinerary visits ports in both Portugal and Spain. The vessel is owned by the Portugese travel company Douro Azul and often chartered by the UK company Noble Caledonia.
The Douro Prince ship features a welcoming lounge, bar, elegant single-sitting dining room, gift shop and sun deck. Staterooms choices include only one suite and 23 spacious outside cabins. All cabins are elegantly decorated, with private facilities, TV, individually controlled air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom. Main deck cabins measure 11 m2 (118 ft2) and feature floor-to-ceiling windows giving access to a private step-out balcony. Upper deck cabins have a large picture window and are slightly larger at 12 m2 (131 ft2), except for cabins 214 and 219 that are smaller and measure 9 m2 (97 ft2). The suite measures 21 m2 (224 ft2). All cabins have private bathrooms (shower and toilet), and the suite has a bath.
Standard cabins feature twin beds (positioned separately or together, converting to a large double bed). The suite has a fixed double bed (can't be converted to twin beds). Bottled water is available complimentary in all cabins, at the bar and also on all tours and excursions ashore.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the airy and bright restaurant located on the Main deck. The spacious dining room serves delicious international and local traditional Portugese dishes. The restaurant has capacity to seat all guests in one open sitting, as most tables seat 6 people. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style affairs, while dinner is waiter-served.
