Through the $34 million refurbishment, Carnival Fascination obtained an extensive sun deck overhaul. The cruise liner got the now-signature Carnival WaterWorks, with its three-hundred-foot-plus-long twister slide, racing slides and water-spraying apparatuses. The mid-vessel swimmingpool was remade in a tropical theme that featured massive beach umbrellas, thatched-roof-covered hot baths and palm tree sculptures. Carnival Fascination also obtained the adults-only "Serenity" place, made with whirlpools, plush chaise chairs and umbrellas. There were also added ninety-eight balconies to cabins, and some suites were retrofitted with bigger, extended balconies.

Despite the completely overhaul, the cruise liner does lack certain conveniences found on newer vessels, such as a large part of balcony cabins (even with the ninety-eight new balconies) and lots of alternative dining rooms (Fascination has none). Still, its year-round positioning in Jacksonville, which offers 4- to 7-night Bahamas cruise voyages, makes it a great cruise for 1st-timers or excursion-challenged residents in the tri-state homeport region (Florida, Alabama and Georgia).
