Nurnberg/Nuremberg (port locode DENUE) is a Pegnitz River cruise port and city in Germany's Bavaria state. By population (around 0,52 million), the city is ranked Germany's 14th-largest and Bavaria's second-largest (after Munchen). The city has access to Rhein-Main-Donau-Kanal (Rhine-Main-Danube Canal) and is located approx 170 km (110 mi) north of Munich (on Isar River). Nurnberg metropolis has population over 3,6 million.

Nurnberg is still associated with its traditional Lebkuchen (gingerbread) products, sausages, and handmade toys. Nuremberg eggs (pocket watches) were made here by Peter Henlein (1485-1542). In the 19th century, the town became Bavaria's "industrial heart" - with companies like MAN and Siemens.

Current-day Nurnberg's industry produces motor vehicles, electrical equipment, optical products, drawing/writing paraphernalia, printed materials, various stationery products. However, the city's strongest industries are energy, automation, and medical technology. Siemens is the largest industrial employer.

Nuremberg International Toy Fair is the world's largest. The city also hosts a number of hi-tech fairs annually, attracting experts from all over the world.

Nuremberg State Theatre is dedicated to all types of ballet, opera and stage performances. Staatsphilharmonie Nurnberg is the 2nd-largest Bavarian opera orchestra. Internationales Kammermusikfestival Nurnberg takes place early September each year. Concerts take place around the city. Bardentreffen is an annual folk festival, ranked as Germany's largest music festival.

Nuremberg Castle is one of the major tourist attractions. It comprises 3 castles towering over the city,

Heilig-Geist-Spital stands on the bank of Pegnitz River in downtown. Established in 1332, this was one of Europe's biggest hospitals. Currently, the building houses a restaurant and elderly persons.

The city is famous for the Nurnberger Bratwurst (grilled sausage) that is thinner than other German sausages. Another traditional food is Nurnberger Lebkuchen (gingerbread) offered during Christmas. Nuremberg Christmas market (Christkindlesmarkt) attracts over 1 million tourists during the Christmas holidays each year.
