AmaPrima

The 2013-built AmaPrima sails on the Danube, Rhine, and Main rivers and also offers Grand River Cruises extending from the Danube to the Black Sea (Turkey). The ship operates from homeports including Amsterdam, Basel, Budapest, Nuremberg, Vilshofen (Passau), and Ruse.

AmaWaterways’ 164-passenger AmaPrima incorporates advanced design elements, offering spacious staterooms, multiple dining venues, exclusive Twin Balconies, a heated pool, onboard Internet and Wi-Fi access, and more. Her elegant glass elevator and unique Twin Balcony accommodations enhance the distinctive river cruise experience.

Cabins

AmaPrima features 85 cabins in total, including 5 Suites, 51 Twin Balcony cabins, 10 French Balcony cabins, and 19 with fixed (non-opening) windows, spread across 9 categories. Cabin sizes reach up to 300 sq.ft.

Shipboard Facilities

AmaPrima offers a variety of dining venues featuring Culinary Chaîne des Rôtisseurs creations. Dining options include Verde (main dining room), Bella Cucina (Italian restaurant), Chef’s Table (tasting menu), Wine Bar (private dining), and alfresco dining on the Sun Deck.

Other onboard facilities include the Observation Lounge (with al fresco Teak Front Deck), Main Lounge & Bar, Prima Atrium (lobby), Fireside Library, Gift Shop, Fitness & Sauna, and a top deck equipped with a pool/jacuzzi, swim-up bar, sundeck loungers, shaded relaxation areas, giant chess, putting green, and a walking track. The ship also has one passenger elevator.

AmaPrima cruise fares are all-inclusive, covering Internet and Wi-Fi access, all shore excursions (including guided bike tours), ground transfers, daily enrichment lectures, live evening entertainment by local performers, food and wine tastings, 24-hour coffee/tea service, and replenished bottled water.

Prices are per person based on double occupancy and are indicative only. • "Melodies of the Danube" – 12 days (7-day sailing) from Budapest to Prague, ending in Vilshofen. Includes a 2-night luxury hotel stay in Prague, with 7 optional and 10 complimentary land tours/excursions.
• "Blue Danube Discovery" and "Romantic Danube" – 12 days (7-day sailing) from Budapest to Prague, disembarking in Nuremberg. Includes 2 nights in Budapest and 3 nights in Prague, plus leisure time in Karlovy Vary during the Nuremberg-Prague transfer.
• "Black Sea Voyage" – 15 days (7-day sailing) from Vienna to Istanbul and reverse. Includes 4 optional and 13 complimentary land tours, along with 1 night in Plovdiv, 3 nights in Istanbul, and 2 nights in Vienna.
• "Grand Danube" – 23 days (15-day sailing) from Prague to Istanbul and reverse. Includes 6 optional and 23 complimentary land tours, plus 2 nights in Istanbul and 3 nights in Prague.
• "Magnificent Europe" – 16 days (15-day sailing) from Budapest to Amsterdam and reverse. Features 5 optional and 16 complimentary land tours.
• "Treasures of Main and Rhine" (Christmas Markets) – 11 days (7-day sailing) from Prague to Amsterdam and reverse, with embarkation/disembarkation in Nuremberg. Includes 3 optional and 7 complimentary land tours, plus a 3-night Prague hotel package.

The APT AmaPrima is the fourth vessel in the newest generation of AmaWaterways’ Concerto-class river cruise ships. Her sisterships include AmaBella, AmaCerto, AmaReina, AmaSerena, AmaSonata, AmaVerde, and AmaVenita. This new design introduces the signature "Twin Balcony" accommodations, which combine a traditional French balcony with a second, covered step-out veranda for use in all weather conditions.

Each of these riverboats is powered by two Caterpillar marine diesel engines (model C32 DITA ACERT V-12) with a combined output of 1900 kW / 2550 HP.

The vessel’s hull and superstructure were constructed at the Vahali Shipyard in Belgrade, Serbia. Vahali Shipyard, founded in 1923, is a Dutch shipbuilding company (Scheepswerf En Machinefabriek Vahali BV) that operates facilities in Serbia (Belgrade and Zasavica) and in the Netherlands (Gendt). The Zasavica shipyard officially opened in 2013. Following construction in Serbia, AmaPrima was towed to the Netherlands for final outfitting at Scheepswerf Vahali in Gendt.

The AmaPrima was launched on August 6, 2013, and christened in Vilshofen, Germany, by godmother Valerie Wilson, founder, chairman, and CEO of Valerie Wilson Travel—an NYC-based agency specializing in leisure, corporate, and cruise travel.

The name "AmaPrima" shares its naming tradition with other cruise liners such as AIDAprima (built in 2016) and Norwegian Prima (built in 2022).

All AmaWaterways ships offer complimentary bicycles, stored on the sundeck, for use during guided shore excursions at each port of call.
