AmaSiena Wiki
APT AmaSiena is one of the company's newest river cruise ships in the modified Concerto-class, with sisterships including AmaKristina (2016), AmaLea (2018), AmaLucia (2021), AmaMora (2019), AmaStella (2016), and AmaViola (2016). This latest APT riverboat design features the signature "Twin Balcony" stateroom concept, combining a traditional French Balcony with a second, covered step-out verandah for year-round use. Each of these vessels is powered by two Caterpillar marine diesel engines (model C32 DITA ACERT, V-12), delivering a total output of 1900 kW / 2550 HP.
The ship’s godmother was officially announced in late October 2019 as Debbie Fiorino, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of World Travel Holdings Inc.—a 2003-founded US company based in Wilmington, MA, and currently the world's largest cruise travel agency.
AmaSiena’s inaugural cruise was initially scheduled for July 22, 2020, with a christening ceremony planned for mid-August 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ship's debut was postponed to 2021. The naming ceremony for AmaWaterways' 26th vessel took place on September 1, 2021, in Lahnstein, Germany. The event, led by Godmother Debbie Fiorino, was attended by VIP guests including Rudi Schreiner (AmaWaterways President) and Kristin Karst (Executive Vice President).
The vessel’s construction—hull and superstructure—was completed at the Vahali Shipyard in Zasavica (Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia), under ENI number 7002135. The Dutch shipbuilding company Scheepswerf En Machinefabriek Vahali BV (founded in 1923) operates shipyards in Serbia (Belgrade and Zasavica) and the Netherlands (Gendt). The Zasavica yard officially opened in 2013. After construction in Serbia, AmaSiena was towed to the Netherlands for final outfitting at Scheepswerf Vahali in Gendt.
All AmaWaterways ships offer complimentary bicycles (stored on the sundeck) for use during shore excursions and tours in ports of call along the itinerary.
