AmaLucia Wiki

APT AmaLucia is one of the company's newest riverboats in the modified Concerto-class series. Her sisterships include AmaKristina (2016), AmaLea (2018), AmaMora (2019), AmaSiena (2020), AmaStella (2016), and AmaViola (2016). This new-generation APT riverboat design features the innovative “Twin Balcony” stateroom concept, combining a traditional French balcony with a second covered step-out veranda for all-weather comfort. Each vessel in this class is powered by two Caterpillar marine diesel engines (model C32 DITA ACERT V-12), delivering a total output of 1900 kW / 2550 HP.

AmaLucia's inaugural cruise commenced on March 16, 2021, with a 7-day "Tulip Time" roundtrip itinerary from Amsterdam, Holland.

The vessel was officially christened on July 31, 2022, in Rudesheim am Rhein, Germany (Hesse). The naming ceremony was conducted by godparents Riley and Will Farmer, children of Colin Farmer (Senior Managing Director of Certares Management LLC—a private equity firm focused on travel investments). The event was also attended by AmaWaterways' founders, Rudi Schreiner (President) and Kristin Karst (Executive Vice President), along with Captain Arjan Leunis, the ship’s Master.

The vessel’s hull and superstructure (ENI number 7002142) were constructed at the Vahali Shipyard in Zasavica (Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia). The Dutch shipbuilder Scheepswerf En Machinefabriek Vahali BV (founded in 1923) owns and operates shipyards in Serbia (Zasavica and Belgrade) and in the Netherlands (Gendt). The Zasavica yard officially opened in 2013. Following initial construction, the ship was towed to Gendt, Holland, for final outfitting at Scheepswerf Vahali.

All AmaWaterways ships offer complimentary bicycles (stored on the sundeck) for guests to use during shore excursions and tours in each port along the itinerary.
