AmaLyra Wiki
The APT AmaLyra is the fifth of the new-generation AMA river cruise ships in the Aria-class, which preceded the line’s latest Concerto-class vessels. Her sister ships include AmaCello, AmaDagio (offering combined itineraries), AmaDante, and AmaDolce. This APT ship class introduced a modern design featuring the “French Balcony” staterooms concept, with sliding floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Each vessel in this class is powered by two Cummins marine diesel engines (model “KTA 38 M1”) delivering a total output of 1620 kW / 2170 HP.
A distinctive highlight of AmaWaterways’ AmaLyra cruises is the complimentary bike tour program. Guests have access to onboard bicycles for use during all excursions and guided tours at the various ports along the itinerary.
The AMA cruise ship Lyra was officially launched on April 12, 2009. The vessel was christened in Vilshofen, Germany, by Mrs. Michelle Morgan, who was then President of the Signature Travel Network. Signature Travel Network is a global cooperative of travel agencies and consultants that offers exclusive cruise, land tour, and resort vacation benefits through bookings made via its affiliated members.
