AmaSonata

The 2014-built AmaSonata sails on the Danube River, with departures from homeports including Amsterdam, Budapest, Prague, Nuremberg, and Vilshofen (Passau). In addition to Danube cruises, the riverboat also operates on the Belgian and Dutch waterways and the Rhine River. The 164-passenger AmaSonata is a sistership to AmaCerto and features AmaWaterways' advanced design, including the signature Twin Balconies.

Cabins

AmaSonata offers a total of 85 staterooms (including 5 Suites, 51 Twin Balcony, 10 French Balcony, and 19 with fixed windows) across 9 categories. The majority of cabins feature the exclusive Twin Balcony design and measure a spacious 235 sq. feet. Four suites are available, each measuring 350 sq. feet.

Shipboard Facilities

Guests can enjoy gourmet dining and free-flowing wine at several onboard venues. Dining options include Verde (main dining room), Bella Cucina (Italian), Chef’s Table (tasting menu), Wine Bar (private), and Sun Deck (alfresco). The Chef’s Table and main dining room serve culinary creations recognized by Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. On select days, lunch is offered on the Sun Deck.

The Sun Deck also features lounge chairs, a heated pool with Jacuzzi and swim-up bar, bicycles, and a walking track. The Violin Deck houses Erlebnis Chef’s Table, the Observation Lounge, Main Lounge & Bar, Al Fresco Bistro, gift shop, library, fitness room, sauna, and Hair Salon. A second Wine Bar is located on the Cello Deck. Additional amenities include a giant chess set, putting green, and a glass elevator (passenger lift).

AmaSonata cruise fares are all-inclusive, covering complimentary Internet (including Wi-Fi), guided tours and excursions (including cycling tours), ground transfers, live evening entertainment by local performers, enrichment lectures, wine and food tastings, 24-hour coffee/tea station, and daily replenished bottled water.

Prices are per person, based on double occupancy, and are indicative only. Final prices may vary based on booking conditions such as agency promotions, discounts, group rates, or last-minute offers. AmaWaterways also offers discounted airfare on major airlines without charging Flight Deviation fees.

• "MELODIES OF THE DANUBE" and "BLUE DANUBE DISCOVERY" – 12-day (7-night sailing) Danube cruises from Budapest to Prague (Vilshofen disembarkation), with a 2-night luxury hotel stay in Prague. Includes 7 optional and 10 complimentary land excursions.
• "ROMANTIC DANUBE" – 12-day (7-night sailing) cruise from Nuremberg to Budapest, or in reverse from Budapest to Prague (Vilshofen embarkation/disembarkation), with an included 3-night luxury hotel package in Prague.
• "MAGNIFICENT EUROPE" – 16-day (15-night sailing) Rhine-Main-Danube cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam, or in reverse. Includes 5 optional and 16 complimentary land excursions.
• "TREASURES OF MAIN AND RHINE" ("Christmas Markets" theme) – 11-day (7-night sailing) cruise from Prague to Amsterdam or reverse (Nuremberg embarkation/disembarkation), with 3 optional and 7 complimentary excursions, plus a 2-night Prague hotel stay.
• "ENCHANTING RHINE" – 13-day (7-night sailing) Rhine River cruise from Zurich to Amsterdam or reverse (Basel embarkation/disembarkation), with 4 optional and 8 complimentary land excursions, and a 2-night Lucerne hotel stay.
• "TULIP TIME" – 7-day round-trip cruises from Amsterdam through Belgium and Holland, with 3 optional and 7 complimentary land excursions included in the fare.

The APT AmaSonata is the sixth vessel in the newest generation of AmaWaterways river cruise ships from the Concerto-class, alongside sisterships AmaBella, AmaCerto, AmaPrima, AmaReina, AmaSerena, AmaVerde, and AmaVenita. This new APT riverboat design introduces the “Twin Balcony” concept, which combines a traditional French Balcony with a second, covered open-air verandah for use in all weather conditions. Each vessel in this class is powered by two Caterpillar marine diesel engines (model “C32 DITA ACERT” V-12) with a total power output of 1900 kW / 2550 HP.

The vessel's construction, including hull and superstructure, took place at the Vahali Shipyard in Belgrade, Serbia. Vahali Shipyard, founded in 1923 as Scheepswerf En Machinefabriek Vahali BV, operates facilities in Serbia (Belgrade and Zasavica) and in the Netherlands (Gendt). The Zasavica yard officially opened in 2013. After the initial construction in Serbia, the AmaSonata was towed to Holland for final outfitting at Scheepswerf Vahali in Gendt.

The AmaSonata was launched on July 24, 2014, and christened in Vilshofen, Germany, by Mrs. Brenda Kyllo, National Vice President of CAA Travel. The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) has several million members and 104 clubs across Canada, offering roadside assistance, auto, travel, and insurance services.

All AmaWaterways ships offer complimentary bicycles (stored on the sundeck) for use during shore excursions in each port of call along the cruise itinerary.
