Amadeus Star Review

Review of Amadeus Star

The 2019-built Amadeus Star cruise ship is a 160-passenger riverboat (the fleet's 15th vessel), owned by the Austrian company and shipowner Luftner Cruises and operated through the Luftner-owned travel brand Amadeus River Cruises.

Like her sistership, the Amadeus Queen (2018), Amadeus Star sails on the Danube, Main, and Rhine rivers, as well as along the Belgian and Dutch waterways.

The vessel (ENI number 2337903) is currently Germany-flagged (MMSI 211216820) and registered in Cologne.

Cabins

MS Amadeus Star has 81 staterooms distributed across four decks—Sun Deck and three passenger decks named after renowned Austrian composers: Haydn, Mozart, and Strauss.

The ship features 51 French Balcony cabins (18 m2 / 190 ft2) with large drop-down windows, and 18 Window cabins (16 m2 / 170 ft2) with fixed, non-opening windows.

The 12 suites (located on Mozart Deck / Deck 3) are 27 m2 (285 ft2) in size and include both French balconies and step-out balconies.

All staterooms (excluding singles) feature queen beds convertible to twins, en-suite bathrooms with WC and shower, seating areas, wardrobes, flat-screen TVs, telephones, and individual air conditioning.

Shipboard facilities

The Panorama Dining Room offers spectacular views as guests enjoy expertly prepared cuisine.

A standout onboard feature is the indoor pool, equipped with a retractable roof for use in pleasant weather. In the evenings, the area is used for lectures and cinema screenings.

The River Terrace open-air lounge is situated at the bow. Its specially designed glazing ensures panoramic views while offering protection from wind and rain. Other popular amenities include the Amadeus Club, Panorama Bar and Lounge, Sun Deck with loungers, Hair Salon, Massage Room, and Fitness Room.

The Amadeus Club provides a cozy setting for relaxing with a glass of wine to the soft sounds of classical and jazz music. Guests can also use the Internet stations located in the Club to stay in touch with friends and family back home.

Amadeus Star Wiki

On March 9, 2018, Luftner Cruises confirmed the shipbuilding order for a second 164-passenger riverboat and announced her name—"Amadeus Star". Her sistership, Amadeus Queen, was launched in April 2018. Both vessels feature an indoor swimming pool (located aft on Mozart Deck 3 with a recessed outdoor sundeck) and the adjacent Amadeus Club, the company’s new “wine cellar bar” concept.

This new class of ships was specifically designed to appeal to younger, millennial-generation cruise travelers. For the project, Luftner partnered with Zaven Global (a US-based incentive travel and promotion company) to develop and train brand influencers through “experiential events.” On each voyage, a celebrity influencer serves as host, sharing the cruise experience with their social media followers. The influencer also curates a special onboard program centered on trending lifestyle topics such as nutrition, dieting, fitness, weight loss, and healthy living.

As part of the initiative, several onboard and onshore offerings were redesigned. Key updates included flexible open-seating dinner service (your-time dining between 6:00–9:00 pm), a variety of healthy menu options, mobile apps to help millennial guests plan their own excursions, yoga instructors on board (leading outdoor/Sun Deck classes and serving as lifestyle coaches), and themed onboard activities.
