Avalon Envision

MS Avalon Envision cruises on the Danube River with itineraries departing from homeports Amsterdam (Netherlands), Budapest (Hungary), Prague (Czech Republic), and Nuremberg (Germany). As one of the newest riverboats in Avalon Waterways' "Suite Ship" fleet, the vessel was scheduled to enter service in April 2019.

The fleet's newest ship, Avalon View, is the company's 17th suite-only vessel, with a scheduled delivery in 2020.

Cabins

Avalon Envision features two full decks of Panorama Suites, each with wall-to-wall windows that transform the living space into a unique open-air balcony. The Panorama Suites measure 200 ft², over 30% larger than standard river cruise cabins, offering passengers an unmatched opportunity to wake up to stunning river views.

The ship has a total of 83 staterooms, including 2 Royal Suites, 65 Panorama Suites, and 16 Deluxe Staterooms with non-opening windows, spread across 6 cabin categories.

Cabin Types, Sizes, Categories (from highest to lowest):

• All staterooms include: 2 twin beds (convertible to queen-sized), 3-door closet with shelves, private bathroom (glass-door shower, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers), sofa, coffee table, flat-screen TV, vanity/writing desk, private French balcony (with floor-to-ceiling sliding door), individual climate control, telephone, minibar, safe, deluxe pillow menu, and complimentary bottled water. Each cabin accommodates up to 2 guests.
• 2x Royal Suites (RS) – Deck 3, 300 ft² / 28 m²
• Panorama Suites: P (x33, Deck 3), A (x23, Deck 2), B (x9, Deck 2) – each 200 ft² / 18.6 m²
• Deluxe Staterooms: Category D (x10, Deck 1), Category E (x6, Deck 1) – each 172 ft² / 16 m²

Shipboard Facilities

Onboard amenities include the Panorama Bistro (alternative dining), an expanded fitness center, a spacious Sky Deck with lounge chairs, complimentary Wi-Fi, a whirlpool, and open-air lunches served at the Sky Bistro.

Dining venues include the main Envision Restaurant, Panorama Bistro, and the al-fresco Sky Bistro. Other public spaces include the Panorama Lounge & Bar (with observation area and outdoor viewing deck), Club Lounge, Library/Internet Corner, Envision Atrium Lobby, Hair Salon, Fitness Center, and the Sun Deck (Sky Lounge & Bar, Sky Bistro, whirlpool, shaded seating, and deck games area).

Avalon Envision cruise fares are all-inclusive, covering Wi-Fi access, room service, guided land tours and excursions (led by certified local guides), port taxes, flights, motorcoach transfers, live evening entertainment (featuring local performers), daily enrichment lectures, behind-the-scenes ship tours, food and wine tastings, 24-hour premium coffee/tea/hot chocolate service, and bottled water replenished daily.

River cruise prices are per person, based on double occupancy. These are indicative rates and may vary based on travel agency promotions, special offers, group bookings, or last-minute deals. • (7-night cruise) "Tulip Time Cruise" – Spring-themed 8-day itineraries in Belgium and the Netherlands, round-trip from Amsterdam (code WAA).
• (7-night cruise) "Magnificent Europe" – 15-day cruises from Amsterdam to Budapest (Eastbound, code WAB) and reverse (Westbound, code WBA).
• (7-night cruise) "The Blue Danube Discovery" – 13-day cruises from Budapest to Prague (via Nuremberg, Westbound, code WBN); reverse itinerary themed "The Legendary Danube" – 11-day cruises from Prague to Budapest (Eastbound, code WNB, embarkation in Nuremberg). "Cruise-only" options are also available: Nuremberg to Budapest (code WNBO) and Budapest to Nuremberg (code WBNO).
• (3-night cruise) "A Taste of the Danube" – 8-day cruises from Vienna to Budapest (Eastbound, code WVB), and reverse from Budapest to Vienna (Westbound, code WBV). "Cruise-only" option from Budapest to Nuremberg (code WBVO, excluding the hotel package in Budapest).
• (7-night cruise) "Capitals of Central Europe" – 10-day cruises from Prague to Budapest (Eastbound, code WPB), and reverse from Budapest to Prague (Westbound, code WBP). "Cruise-only" option: Passau to Budapest (code WPBO, excluding Prague hotel package).
• (5-night cruise) "Austrian Highlights and Bavaria" – 9-day cruises from Munich to Vienna (Eastbound, code WPV), and reverse from Vienna to Munich/Passau (Westbound, code WVP). Vienna departures include disembarkation in Passau and motorcoach transfer to Munich with a 2-night hotel stay. "Cruise-only" options: Vienna to Passau (code WVPO) and Passau to Vienna (code WPVO).

Envision is the 13th vessel in Avalon's "Suite Ship" class. Among her standout features are two full decks of Panorama Suites—each with wall-to-wall sliding glass doors and French Balconies—and spacious public areas with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic river views.

Each Avalon "Suite Ship" is powered by two Caterpillar Marine diesel engines (model C32 ACERT), with a combined output of 1.4 MW / 1930 HP, along with an emergency diesel generator. The ship employs diesel-electric propulsion, featuring one azimuth thruster at the bow and a “Silent Drive System” that isolates the engine room from the passenger accommodations for a quieter onboard experience.

In October 2018, Elizabeth Gilbert—US author best known for her 2006 memoir "Eat, Pray, Love"—was announced as the riverboat’s godmother. The christening ceremony took place on April 7, 2019, in Budapest, Hungary.
