Avalon View

The 2020-built / 2021-inaugurated MS Avalon View cruises on the Rhine and Danube Rivers with itineraries departing from homeports such as Amsterdam (Holland), Basel (Switzerland), Budapest (Hungary), Prague (Czech Republic), Berlin (Germany), and Deggendorf (Germany). Avalon View is one of the newest riverboats in Avalon Waterways’ "Suite Ship" fleet.

The fleet’s newest vessel, Avalon View, is the company’s 17th suite-only ship. She follows the launch of her sistership Envision (2019).

Cabins

MS Avalon View is part of Avalon Waterways’ cutting-edge Suite Ships. This elegant riverboat features two decks of Panorama Suites, each with wall-to-wall windows that transform the living area into a unique open-air balcony. The Panorama Suites offer 200 ft² of space—over 30% more than the industry standard—providing guests with the unmatched opportunity to greet each morning with views of stunning landscapes.

Avalon View has a total of 83 staterooms (including 2 Royal Suites, 65 Panorama Suites, and 16 staterooms with non-opening windows) across 6 cabin categories.

Cabin Types, Sizes, Categories (high to low):

• All staterooms include: two twin beds convertible to a queen-sized bed, 3-door closets with shelves, private bathroom (glass-door shower, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers), sofa, coffee table, flat-screen TV, vanity/writing desk, private French balcony (floor-to-ceiling sliding door), individual climate control, telephone, minibar, safe, deluxe pillow menu, and complimentary bottled water. Cabin occupancy is limited to 2 guests per room.

• Panorama Suites – P (x33, Deck 3), A (x23, Deck 2), B (x9, Deck 2) – size 200 ft² / 18.6 m²

Shipboard Facilities

Onboard amenities aboard MS Avalon View include the Panorama Bistro for alternative dining, an expanded fitness center, a spacious Sky Deck with lounge chairs, complimentary Wi-Fi access, a whirlpool, and open-air lunches at the Sky Bistro.

Dining options include the main restaurant (View), Panorama Bistro, and Sky Bistro (al fresco). Additional onboard venues include the Panorama Lounge & Bar (observation lounge with outdoor viewing area), Club Lounge, Library/Internet Corner, Atrium Lobby, Hair Salon, Fitness Center, and the Sun Deck with Sky Lounge & Bar, Sky Bistro, whirlpool, shaded seating, and a deck games area.

Avalon View cruise fares include Wi-Fi Internet, room service, all land tours and excursions (with certified local tour guides), port taxes, flights, motorcoach transfers, live evening entertainment (local performers), daily enrichment lectures, ship tour (“behind-the-scenes”), food and wine tastings, 24-hour premium coffee/tea/hot chocolate service, and daily replenished bottled water.

The Switzerland-flagged MS Avalon View is Avalon Waterways' 14th riverboat in the company's "Suite Ship" class. The design features two full cabin decks with French Balconies (wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling sliding windows) and spacious public areas, all with full-length floor-to-ceiling windows.

Each Avalon "Suite Ship" is powered by two Caterpillar Marine diesel engines (model C32 ACERT, total output 1.4 MW / 1930 HP), along with an emergency diesel generator. The ship uses diesel-electric propulsion, featuring one azimuth thruster at the bow and a "Silent Drive System," which isolates the engines from passenger staterooms to reduce noise and vibration.

The riverboat’s Godmother is Meredith Louise Vieira (born 1953), a US journalist and television personality best known for her work on NBC News’ talk show *The View* (1997–2006). The ship’s christening ceremony was scheduled for April 6, 2020, in Ybbs an der Donau, Austria.
