Avalon Saigon cruise ship is part of Avalon Waterways "Suite Ships" fleet of newbuilds. The shipowner is Pandaw River Expeditions, while Avalon Waterways is the exclusive charterer of the vessel. The riverboat Saigon offers all the modern features one could expect while retaining its colonial charm fitting to Cambodia and Vietnam. While the number of passengers may be small, this special boat was purposely built as long and wide as other vessels that carry twice as many travellers so that spaces are not crowded.

Avalon Saigon was specifically designed for Mekong cruising. Its design is new for this region, featuring all "French Balcony" staterooms in two Suite categories (deck location-based). All the Suites have large floor-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows. The smaller size allows the vessel to navigate on the Mekong all the way between Siem Reap and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), thus eliminating many hours of bus travel to or from the ship.

All cabins have open-air balconies with floor-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows (width 4,3 m / 14 ft) with retractable screen systems and sliding doors (opening 2,7 m / 9 ft). In front of each private cabin balcony, there is a sitting area with love seat, low table, and chair. Comfort Collection Beds (custom-made) are another signature feature of the Avalon Waterways Mekong cruising experience.

Shipboard facilities

There are plenty of spots to sit and relax - from the open-air observation lounge and spacious dining room to the air-conditioned Panorama Lounge. The smaller size makes the boat able to cruise on the Mekong all the way from Siem Reap to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), eliminating hours of bus travel to or from the vessel.
