Amadeus Amara Review
Review of Amadeus Amara
The 2025-built Amadeus Amara cruise ship (also branded as Amara by AMADEUS) is a 160-passenger riverboat and the 20th (and newest) vessel in the fleet. It is owned by the Austrian company Luftner Cruises and operated under its travel brand, Amadeus River Cruises.
Amara's sister ships include the fleet's newest vessels: Amadeus Cara (2021), Amadeus Riva (2023), Amadeus Nova (2024), Amadeus Aurea (2026), and Amadeus Mira (2027).
MS Amadeus Amara sails on the Danube, Main, Rhine, and Moselle rivers, including itineraries to the Danube Delta and the Black Sea, as well as Belgian and Dutch inland waterways.

The vessel (ENI number 02340578) is currently Germany-flagged (MMSI 211169450) and registered in Cologne.
The vessel was built at TeamCo Shipyard in Heusden, North Brabant, Netherlands. The ship's name, Amara, in Sanskrit means"immortal" or "eternal". The hull and superstructure were constructed by Severnav in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania. After completion, the ship was moved to Holland for outfitting at TeamCo's yard.
Amadeus Amara's propulsion is hybrid (diesel-electric). The battery system is from EST-Floattech's series Octopus High Energy, based on high-density, lithium-ion batteries. It adds 520 kWh of electricity to the propulsion and results in fuel savings and reduced emissions.
Decks and Cabins
MS Amadeus Amara has 82 staterooms and 4 decks - the open-air Sun Deck and 3 cabin decks named after the Austrian composers Haydn (1), Strauss (2), and Mozart (3).
The vessel offers 12 Amadeus Suites (27 m2, all midship on Mozart Deck with step-out balconies), 52 French Balcony cabins (18 m2, with drop-down panoramic windows), and 16 Window cabins (16 m2, with non-opening upper-wall windows, all located on Haydn Deck near the aft staff and crew quarters).
All staterooms come with twin beds (convertible to a Queen-size double), mirrored vanity with chair, wardrobe, electronic safe (in closet), direct-dial phone, TV, seating area (two armchairs and a round table), floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows (French Balcony style), and an en-suite bathroom with toilet, single-sink vanity, shower, and hairdryer.
Suites additionally include fully-stocked minibars (not complimentary), corner sofa (daybed), walk-in wardrobe, and a step-out balcony.
Shipboard Facilities and Amenities
All meals are served at the Panorama Restaurant (forward on Strauss Deck 2), offering early breakfast, buffet breakfast, buffet or sit-down lunch, and 5-course gourmet dinners with complimentary regional wines. All ingredients are locally sourced and seasonal. Guests can also enjoy afternoon tea and cakes, midnight snacks, and a 24-hour coffee/tea station.
The Sun Deck (Deck 4) is the primary leisure area, offering panoramic views, sun loungers, deckchairs, shaded seating with retractable awnings, a mini-golf putting green, Giant Chessboard, Shuffleboard, and Pickleball Court.
The Sun Deck Lounge & Bar (fore-located) serves light snacks and beverages. Unlike her sister ships, Amadeus Amara does not have an outdoor heated swimming pool.
The Sun Deck’s Wheelhouse (Navigation Bridge) is telescopic (lowerable for low bridges) and open to passengers.
The Panorama Lounge & Bar (forward on Mozart Deck 3) features floor-to-ceiling windows, full bar service, and hosts enrichment activities such as port talks, destination lectures, media presentations, themed parties, crew shows, and live performances by local entertainers.
The Amadeus Club (aft on Mozart Deck 3) is a wine bar with Internet stations and serves as a Library/Cinema. It uniquely houses an indoor heated pool that transforms into a cinema by covering the pool area in the evening.
The River Terrace (bow on Mozart Deck 3) is a glass-shielded outdoor lounge, accessible from the Panorama Lounge or via stairs from the Sun Deck.
The Haydn Deck (midship-forward) houses the wellness area, including a Spa (massage room) and Fitness Room (open 24 hours). The Hair Salon (aft-starboard on Deck 3) offers professional hairdressing and barber services.
The Strauss Deck (midship) features the Lobby Hall with a 24-hour Reception Desk (information, assistance, cashier, luggage handling, tour booking) and a Gift Shop.
Solar panels (photovoltaic cells) are installed aft on the Sun Deck as an eco-friendly energy source supporting the vessel’s hybrid diesel-electric engines.
A passenger elevator serves all cabin decks.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship for an additional charge.
Guests are offered complimentary bicycles (stored on the Sun Deck) and wireless audio systems for all shore excursions.
