Seven Seas Voyager

The 2003-built Seven Seas Voyager cruise ship is the third-oldest in the RSSC-Regent fleet, preceded by the "old-timers" Navigator (1999) and Mariner (2001).

The vessel (IMO number 9247144) is currently Bahamas-flagged (MMSI 311513000) and registered in Nassau.

History - construction and ownership

Regent Cruises (officially Regent Seven Seas Cruises / RSSC) is an all-inclusive, top-luxury cruise brand formerly known as "Radisson Seven Seas". Until 2014, the company (as part of "Prestige Cruise Holdings") was owned by Apollo Management LP—one of the world's largest private equity investment funds. Since September 2014, RSSC and sister company Oceania Cruises have been owned by NCL Norwegian (shipowner), acquired for a total of USD 3 billion. Regent cruise ships are medium-sized, with capacity up to 800 passengers. The fleet consists of 6-star-rated, all-suite, all-balcony vessels with a space-to-guest ratio of around 70 and a staff-to-guest ratio of approximately 1-to-1.6 (among the best in the industry). In terms of building cost per berth, RSSC liners rank among the world's most expensive ships.

The 700-passenger ship Seven Seas Voyager was the second cruise ship in the world to feature 100% balcony suites, following Seven Seas Mariner. The experience is not only about attentive service, inspiring itineraries, or renowned guest lecturers, but also about the ship’s distinct personality. Passengers often mention the captain reading poetry over the public address system along with the weather and navigation reports, as well as the strong sense of community onboard—frequently described by returning guests as “a family afloat.” Many repeat travelers return to Seven Seas Voyager year after year largely to reconnect with fellow cruisers.

Decks and Cabins

Seven Seas Voyager staterooms (353 total across 13 suite categories) all feature private step-out balconies. The largest accommodations are the Master Suites (located on Decks 7 and 11), ranging in size from 1150 to 1220 ft2 (107–113 m2) with terraces measuring 185 ft2 (17 m2). The lowest cabin category (Deluxe Suite) costs approximately three times less than the Master Suite.

The ship has 12 decks, of which 9 are passenger-accessible and 6 contain cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

Compass Rose restaurant is the main dining room on Seven Seas Voyager. It operates with open seating and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner without fixed dining times or assigned tables. La Veranda serves as the ship's daytime buffet for breakfast and lunch, and in the evening it transforms into a bistro-style venue serving Mediterranean cuisine. The specialty steakhouse "Prime 7" is complimentary but requires reservations for dinner. Alfresco dining is also offered on Voyager's pool deck at least once during each cruise. Another casual option is the poolside grill, and dinner can also be ordered from the MDR menu for en suite service during restaurant hours.

Itineraries

Seven Seas Voyager's itinerary program includes World Voyages, as well as seasonal deployments in Asia (departing from ports in China, Singapore, and Japan) and Europe (Baltic and Mediterranean itineraries). The ship also operates relocation cruises between Asia and Europe. These repositioning routes may include crossings of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as transits through the Panama Canal and/or the Suez Canal.

Due to the Coronavirus crisis, Regent's ship Voyager was paused for two years (March 2020 through 2022) and was scheduled to restart operations on March 26 in the Mediterranean, with departures from homeports Civitavecchia-Rome and Barcelona.

Regent Voyager ship was built in Genoa Italy and is the line's second vessel offering ultra-inclusive "big yacht" luxury cruise vacation experiences. Her fleetmates include the Regent ships Mariner and Navigator, as well as the newer Explorer (2016).

On September 2, 2014, NCL Norwegian purchased the company "Prestige Cruise Holdings" (owner of Oceania Cruises and RSSC) for USD 3.025 billion, becoming the official owner of all vessels in both fleets.

In mid-April 2016, RSSC announced upgraded fares adding free international flights to all 2017–2018 voyages. These roundtrip air travel deals (business class) were added to the company's signature all-inclusive package—wines, spirits, soda, water, unlimited Internet, free shore excursions, prepaid gratuities, and pre- and post-cruise hotel stays and transfers. The air-inclusive cruise deals involved international flights departing from 26 cities in the USA and Canada, regardless of the suite category booked.

Apollo Group provides all RSSC ships with the complete onboard hotel product and services. This includes administration, food services (preparation and serving), housekeeping, as well as the vessel's provisioning and crewing. Other cruise lines served by Apollo include Thomson UK (Marella Cruises) and Oceania.

Seven Seas Voyager refurbishments review

Drydock 2026

The ship's next drydock refurbishment is currently scheduled for 2026 (April 26 through May 21) and will be conducted in France at Chantier Naval de Marseille.

The project includes complete updates to all staterooms (new furnishings, hardware, lighting, and decor), fully redesigned marble bathrooms in the top-tier suites (categories Signature, Grand, Mariner, Voyager, Seven Seas, and Horizon), new carpeting throughout the ship (hallways, public areas, and cabins), and a comprehensive renovation of the Pool Grill, introducing a new wood-fired pizzeria concept for alfresco dining.

Drydock 2016

The list of deck plan changes after the ship's 25-day drydock refurbishment in 2016 (October 23 – November 9, completed in Marseille) includes:

• All cruise accommodations in the Penthouse, Concierge, and Deluxe categories were redecorated and received new furniture (including balcony furniture), curtains, plush carpeting, wall coverings, lighting, Elite Slumber Beds, marble-accented bathrooms, and new original artworks in the sitting areas.
• Compass Rose (the main dining room on Deck 4) received new decor, including crystal chandeliers and leather chairs.
• La Veranda (the buffet restaurant on Deck 11) was reconstructed with a more open buffet area and a new cook-to-order grill station.
• Pool Grill (Deck 11) received new outdoor seating areas and an infrared barbecue grill.
• Chartreuse (the French restaurant on Promenade Deck 5) was added, replacing the former "Signatures" restaurant.
• Voyager Lounge (Deck 4) was redecorated with cascading chandeliers, crimson loveseats, and a black-and-white marble bar.
• The reception area (Deck 5) was also redesigned. Other public areas upgraded in 2016 include Coffee Connection, Connoisseur Lounge, the card room, onboard shops, the casino, and the Canyon Ranch SpaClub.
• A new entertainment program was introduced featuring 5 Broadway-style shows and comedy productions.
• Public spaces and passenger rooms were renovated, and onboard amenities were upgraded, including new furniture, bedding, and flat-screen TVs with an infotainment system.

In 2017, new menus were introduced at the Compass Rose main dining restaurant.

RSSC's 2016–2017 ship refurbishments cost the parent company NCLH a total of USD 125 million.

Drydock 2013

During the 2013 drydock, the “Voyage Pool” deck area (Deck 11), along with all open-air relaxation areas (Decks 5, 11, and 12), were renovated and refurbished (loungers, sofas, chairs).

The Observation Lounge (Deck 11) was redecorated and received a new bar. Horizon Lounge (Deck 5) was remodeled (with a new bar) and renovated with new furnishings, carpeting, lighting, and wall coverings.

Renovations to the “Constellation” show theater (Deck 4) included new carpeting and upholstery, banquettes, tables and chairs, and wall coverings.

New teak decking was installed on all suite balconies, and all teak deck areas were resurfaced and refinished.

Seven Seas Voyager refurbishment 2013 review
