The 2008-built MS Eurodam cruise ship is the first of two Signature-class Holland America liners, with sistership ms Nieuw Amsterdam.

The vessel (IMO number 9378448) is currently Netherlands-flagged (MMSI 245206000) and registered in Rotterdam.

History - construction and ownership

Holland America Line (HAL) is a Seattle-based cruise company owned by Carnival Corporation (shipowner). Between 1873 and 1989, HAL operated as a Dutch cargo and passenger shipping company providing regular Transatlantic crossings between Holland and the Americas. Founded in 1873 as the "Dutch-American Steamship Company" and headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands, HAL was acquired by Carnival Corporation in 1989 for around EUR 530 million. Among the company’s assets are the Westmark hotel chain (Alaska-Yukon), Worldwide Shore Services (warehousing and logistics), and Half Moon Cay (its private Caribbean island).

The 2100-passenger Eurodam offers an onboard atmosphere that blends elements from HAL's past and present. The vessel’s elegant art collection, well-trained crew—mainly from the Philippines and Indonesia—and refined evening entertainment, from nightly string quartets to ballroom dancing, all connect guests to Holland America’s rich heritage. MS Eurodam was last refurbished in January 2016. Following the two-week drydock, she received new dining venues, upgraded suites, and enhanced entertainment options. Guests can now enjoy new food and beverage experiences, including the Gallery Bar (replacing Northern Lights), which serves creative cocktails crafted by celebrity mixologist Dale DeGroff. On the Lido Deck, the Lido Market was redesigned with a modern “island station” layout.

Suite guests enjoy an upgraded experience featuring new carpet, furniture, USB charging ports, revamped electrical outlets, and enhanced bathrooms and vanities. As part of HAL’s new entertainment concept introduced with the Koningsdam, Billboard Onboard and Lincoln Center Stage debuted on Eurodam, offering fresh musical experiences. Billboard Onboard features live musicians performing chart-topping hits, dueling pianos, and music trivia, while Lincoln Center Stage, in partnership with the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, hosts nightly classical performances and afternoon recitals on sea days.

Decks and Cabins

MS Eurodam staterooms (1052 total, in 38 categories) include 116 Suites, 602 Balcony, 179 Oceanview, and 155 Inside cabins. Most cabins measure 175 ft² (16 m²), and most balconies are 45 ft² (4 m²). Nearly 70% of all staterooms feature private step-out balconies, and 86% are outside cabins. Deck 11 has Juliet cabins (French balconies). There are 27 wheelchair-accessible cabins. The largest accommodations are the Pinnacle Suites (1000 ft² / 93 m², with 320 ft² / 30 m² terraces). The ship also features 8 Spa cabins and 8 Spa suites.

The vessel has 12 passenger decks, 8 of which contain cabins.

Implemented fleetwide in 2019, the "Club Orange" program offers exclusive amenities to Suite passengers booked in Neptune and Pinnacle categories. Benefits include:

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

MS Eurodam features more dining venues than any other ship in the HAL fleet, apart from her sistership ms Nieuw Amsterdam. The seven distinct dining areas offer both casual and formal options. The Rembrandt Restaurant, the ship’s 2-deck Main Dining Room, is open daily for open-seating breakfast and occasionally for lunch. Breakfast options range from yogurt, fruit, and granola to corned beef hash, pancakes, and eggs cooked to order. When open for lunch, guests can enjoy a variety of salads, soups, entrees, and desserts—a relaxing alternative to the Lido buffet.

• Pinnacle Grill (140-seat, reservations-only seafood and steakhouse with fine wines; free for children under 12). Once per cruise, it transforms into “An Evening at Le Cirque” in partnership with the famed NYC French restaurant.

In 2025, Eurodam introduced the restaurant Morimoto By Sea—a sushi counter with surrounding seating—in partnership with Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. The menu includes Appetizers (Toro Tartare), Sushi & Sashimi (Chef’s Combo, Nigiri & Sashimi), Signature Rolls (Shrimp Tempura, Lobster Tempura, Aburi Salmon, Spicy Tuna, California Snow Crab), Signature Plates (Tuna Pizza, Sticky Ribs, Pork Gyoza, Chicken Katsu Curry, Angry Lobster Pad Thai), and Desserts (White Chocolate Lime Ganache).

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

MS Eurodam represents a gentle evolution for Holland America. While preserving HAL’s traditional style, she also reflects the company’s future direction. Notably, Eurodam is the first HAL ship built without a tennis court, replaced by a combination basketball/dodgeball court, the Silk Den, and the Tamarind restaurant. The private, extra-fee cabanas surrounding the main pool evoke a modern resort ambiance. Other amenities include 24-hour room service, a supervised kids’ program (Club HAL), shipboard weddings, Internet/WiFi access, and laundry service.

In 2023, HAL expanded the casinos on its Pinnacle-class (Rotterdam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam) and Signature-class (Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam) ships. Each now features 140 of the latest slot and video poker machines. Non-smoking sections were also added on several vessels.

Since 2023, all HAL ships feature pickleball courts (installed on the top deck) through an exclusive partnership with the PPA – Professional Pickleball Association. Complimentary beginner lessons are offered onboard, branded starter kits are available in shops, and tutorial videos are included in cabin TV programming.

MS Eurodam’s itinerary program includes European voyages in the Baltic (departing from Amsterdam, Netherlands and Copenhagen, Denmark), the Mediterranean (from Civitavecchia-Rome), the Caribbean (from Fort Lauderdale, Florida), and Transatlantic crossings (RepositionCruises.com).

HAL is among the few lines offering partial Panama Canal cruises combining Caribbean islands with Panama’s Gatun Lake. The “Panama Canal” segment includes passage through the Gatun Locks and sailing on Gatun Lake.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2021 MS Eurodam became Holland America’s first ship to resume operations. Her summer program featured 7-day Eastern Mediterranean itineraries roundtrip from Piraeus-Athens, Greece, with bookings opening on May 6.

Eurodam is Holland America’s first Signature-class liner, with her sistership being the Nieuw Amsterdam. She is the 80th vessel to serve in the Holland America fleet. The ship’s Inaugural Cruise (Maiden Voyage) took place on July 5, 2008, and her Godmother was Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.

In July 2017, the cruise ship hosted a special themed voyage in Alaska – the “Share the Adventure Cruise” (July 15–22, 2017). This sailing was part of an exclusive partnership between Holland America Line and The Oprah Magazine. Oprah Winfrey herself joined the voyage, accompanied by notable guests including Gayle King (TV personality), India Arie (singer), Glennon Doyle Melton (author and speaker), and Angela Davis (activist and motivational speaker). Four additional Oprah Magazine-themed “Adventure of Your Life” cruises were scheduled through 2018, each featuring exclusive onboard programs and activities.
