Avalon Tapestry II

The 2015-built MS Avalon Tapestry II ship cruises on the Seine River, departing from homeport Paris City (France).

In 2024, Avalon Waterways launched its Suite Ship fleet renovation and refurbishment project. The upgrades included updated interiors (renovations and decor enhancements in all public spaces, flooring, and furniture), faster Starlink Internet connectivity (with a second antenna added per vessel), a redesigned Sky Deck (new furniture), an expanded Observation Lounge (additional seating), a modernized Gym (new Kinesis One machines and more free weights), and onboard bicycles (15 new conventional bikes and 4 e-bikes per ship). The refurbishments were scheduled across three years—2024 (Passion, Imagery II, Poetry II, Panorama, Vista), 2025 (Artistry II, Impression, Illumination, Tapestry II, Tranquility II), and 2026 (Expression, Visionary).

Cabins

Avalon Tapestry II has a total of 65 staterooms (including 2 Royal Suites, 51 Panorama Suites, and 12 Deluxe Staterooms with non-opening windows) in 6 categories. Like her sisterships, Avalon Tapestry II features two decks of suites with Wall-to-Wall Panoramic Windows.

Cabin Types, Sizes, Categories (from highest to lowest):

• All staterooms feature: two twin beds converting to queen-size, 3-door closets with shelves, private bathroom (glass-door shower, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers), sofa, coffee table, flat-screen TV, vanity/writing desk, French balcony (floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door), individual climate control, telephone, minibar, safe, deluxe pillow menu, and complimentary bottled water. Each cabin accommodates up to 2 guests.
• 2 Royal Suites (category R) – located on Deck 4, size 300 ft² / 28 m².
• Panorama Suites – category P (Deck 4, 25 cabins), A (Deck 3, 17 cabins), and B (Deck 3, 8 cabins) – each 200 ft² / 18.6 m².
• Deluxe Staterooms – category D (6 cabins), E (6 cabins) – each 172 ft² / 16 m².

Shipboard Facilities

MS Avalon Tapestry II amenities include alternative dining at Panorama Bistro, complimentary Wi-Fi access, an Internet Corner, an expanded Fitness Center, and a spacious Sky Deck with a whirlpool, premium lounge chairs, and alfresco lunch at the Sky Bistro. Avalon offers its “Choice” cruising experience, which includes options for Traditional, Independent, or Leisurely sightseeing. Onboard experiences also feature entertainment by local performers, chefs, artisans, and guest experts.

Dining venues on Avalon Tapestry II include the Tapestry Dining Room, Panorama Bistro, and Sky Bistro (al fresco). Additional public spaces include the Panorama Lounge & Bar (with an outdoor observation deck), Club Lounge, Library/Internet Corner, Tapestry Atrium Lobby, Hair Salon, Fitness Center, and the Sun Deck (Sky Lounge & Bar, Sky Bistro, whirlpool, shaded seating, and a deck games area).

Avalon Tapestry II cruise fares are inclusive of Wi-Fi Internet, room service, guided land tours and excursions (with certified local guides), port taxes, flights, motorcoach transfers, evening entertainment by local performers, enrichment lectures, behind-the-scenes ship tours, food and wine tastings, and 24-hour premium coffee/tea/hot chocolate. Bottled water is replenished daily in all cabins.

River Cruise Itineraries

Below is a list of Avalon Tapestry II’s themed itineraries, as officially announced by Avalon Waterways:

(7-night cruise) “Paris to Normandy Landing Beaches” – 8-day Seine River roundtrip voyages from Paris (code WPP).

(Two-ship, 14-night cruise) “Grand France” – 16-day voyages on the Saône, Rhône, and Seine Rivers, offered as Paris to Côte d’Azur (Southbound, code WPL) and Côte d’Azur to Paris (Northbound, code WLP). These are back-to-back itineraries combining Tapestry II’s Seine cruise with the “Burgundy and Provence” cruise on Avalon Poetry II. These packages include embarkation and disembarkation in Paris, Chalon, and Arles, along with high-speed TGV train travel between Paris and Dijon (or vice versa).

The Avalon Tapestry II boat (ENI number 02335808) is the ninth vessel in Avalon Waterways' "Suite Ship" class. Among the ship’s top features are two full decks of Suite cabins—each with wall-to-wall sliding windows and a French Balcony—and spacious, varied public areas, all featuring full-length floor-to-ceiling windows.

Each Avalon Waterways "Suite Ship" is powered by two Caterpillar Marine diesel engines (model C32 ACERT) with a total power output of 1420 kW / 1930 HP, along with an emergency diesel generator. The ship uses diesel-electric propulsion, featuring an azimuth thruster at the bow and a "Silent Drive System" that isolates the engines from the passenger staterooms to minimize noise and vibration.

The Avalon cruise ship Tapestry II was launched in 2015. The vessel’s godmother is Mrs. Diana Gabaldon, the renowned author of the *Outlander* novel series. The christening ceremony was held in Les Andelys (Normandy, France) on March 25, 2015. The original "Avalon Tapestry" ship is now owned by Premicon AG and operates under the name "Travelmarvel Sapphire" (formerly "Vienna I").
