The 2019-built MS Amalia Rodrigues ship cruises on Douro River in Portugal (wine region). Itineraries are round-trips leaving from Oporto Portugal. This riverboat cruises in Portugal together with the CroisiEurope ships Fernao De Magalhaes, Gil Eanes, Infante Don Henrique, Vasco de Gama, Miguel Torga (sistership).

Inaugurated in April 2019, Amalia Rodrigues operates 8-day itineraries leaving roundtrip from Oporto to Vega de Terron/Salamanca, Ferradosa,Pinhao, and Regua.

This is a Premium-class, innovative, 3-deck riverboat. It features contemporary interior design, a top-deck pool and 66 staterooms that accommodate up to 132 passengers. The ship's names honor Amalia Rebordao Rodrigues (1920-1999) - Portuguese fado singer and actress also known as "Rainha do Fado" ("Queen of Fado"), Until her dead (October 1999), Amalia had over 30 million records (produced by Valentim de Carvalho) sold worldwide. She remains Portugal's best-selling artist ever.

Itinerary

Amalia Rodrigues is the 6th ship to join the fleet of CroisiEurope on Douro river. From April through October 2019 she operates 6- and 8-day itineraries from Porto through Douro Valley, visiting Regua, Pinhao, Barca d'Alva, Vega de Terron-Salamanca, and Ferradosa.

Cabins

All the 66 cabins on Amalia Rodrigues are outside, and 58 are with French balconies. As standard are offered modern hotel amenities, including twin or double beds (with premium bedding and pillows), seating area (table with chairs), mirrored dressing table / writing desk with chair, wardrobe, en-suite bathroom (WC, shower, single-sink vanity, hairdryer), electronic safe box (in the closet), hairdryer, LCDTV (satellite reception), central heating (individual air-conditioning), 220V power outlets.

The 3-deck Amalia Rodrigues ship can accommodate 132 passengers in a total of 66 double-occupancy cabins (58 with French balconies plus 4 suites). Both suites are aft on Upper Deck and with step-out terraces.

Shipboard facilities

Dining aboard CroisiEurope ships is always a gourmet pleasure as the "cruise food" is taken very seriously. Passengers soon become friends with their waiter and quickly come to admire the choices by Serge Dubs, world-renowned sommelier. Dinner is served at set times in a single sitting. Breakfast is buffet style and served in the stylish restaurant with panoramic windows. No formal nights are held onboard and the dress code is smart casual.

The ship has a bar lounge for live entertainment in the evenings and daily relaxation. Wi-Fi is available free of charge in the lobby and lounge areas. The sun deck offers 360-degree panoramic views and features a sunbathing area with a swimming pool. The pool is not heated and open during summer months only.

CroisiEurope's 6th Douro River cruise ship - Amalia Rodrigues - was christened in Oporto Portugal on March 19, 2019. Boat's godmother is Maria Alexandrina Quaresma (Amalia Rodrigues Foundation).
