The 2019-built MS Amalia Rodrigues cruises on Portugal’s Douro River, in the country’s renowned wine region. All itineraries are roundtrips departing from Oporto, Portugal. The riverboat operates alongside CroisiEurope’s other Douro-based vessels — Fernao De Magalhaes, Gil Eanes, Infante Don Henrique, Vasco de Gama, and Miguel Torga (her sistership).

Inaugurated in April 2019, MS Amalia Rodrigues operates 8-day roundtrip cruises from Oporto to Vega de Terron/Salamanca, Ferradosa, Pinhao, and Regua.

This Premium-class, 3-deck vessel features a modern, elegant interior design, a top-deck pool, and 66 staterooms accommodating up to 132 passengers. The ship is named after Amalia Rebordao Rodrigues (1920–1999), Portugal’s legendary fado singer and actress, celebrated as the “Rainha do Fado” (“Queen of Fado”). Until her passing in October 1999, Amalia Rodrigues sold over 30 million records worldwide, remaining Portugal’s best-selling artist of all time.

Itinerary

MS Amalia Rodrigues is the sixth CroisiEurope ship to sail on the Douro River. From April through October 2019, she has operated 6- and 8-day itineraries from Porto through the Douro Valley, visiting Regua, Pinhao, Barca d'Alva, Vega de Terron/Salamanca, and Ferradosa.

Cabins

All 66 cabins aboard MS Amalia Rodrigues are outside, with 58 featuring French balconies. Each cabin offers modern hotel-style amenities, including twin or double beds (with premium bedding and pillows), a seating area (table and chairs), mirrored dressing table/writing desk with chair, wardrobe, en-suite bathroom (WC, shower, single-sink vanity, hairdryer), electronic safe box (in the closet), hairdryer, LCD TV (satellite reception), central heating and individual air-conditioning, and 220V power outlets.

The 3-deck vessel accommodates 132 passengers in 66 double-occupancy cabins, including 4 suites. The suites are located aft on the Upper Deck and feature step-out terraces.

Shipboard facilities

Dining aboard CroisiEurope ships is a true gourmet experience, with menus curated by world-renowned sommelier Serge Dubs. Dinner is served at fixed times in a single sitting, while breakfast is buffet-style and enjoyed in the panoramic restaurant. No formal nights are held on board, and the dress code is smart casual.

The ship features a bar lounge offering live entertainment in the evenings and a relaxing atmosphere during the day. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the lobby and lounge areas. The Sun Deck provides 360-degree panoramic views, a swimming pool (open during summer months), and a sunbathing area with loungers and shaded seating.

CroisiEurope’s sixth Douro River cruise ship, **MS Amalia Rodrigues**, was christened in Oporto, Portugal, on March 19, 2019. The vessel’s godmother is **Maria Alexandrina Quaresma** from the Amalia Rodrigues Foundation.
