Silver Muse Review
Review of Silver Muse
The 2017-built MS Silver Muse cruise ship represents Silversea's largest vessel design (an upgraded version of Silver Spirit/2009). Following her inauguration in April 2017, Muse became the fleet's flagship. When the shipbuilding order for the sistership Silver Moon (2020) was signed in September 2017, Silversea had a fleet of 9 operational vessels, with plans to expand to 12 ships. The last two newbuilds in this series are Silver Dawn and Silver Moon.
The vessel (IMO number 9784350) is currently Bahamas-flagged (MMSI 311000637) and registered in Nassau.
History - construction and ownership
Silversea Cruises is a Monaco-based privately owned cruise company and top luxury travel brand. It was established in 1994 as a joint venture between V-Ships Monaco (fka Vlasov Group) and the Lefebvre Family of Rome, Italy. In 2018, RCCL-Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd acquired two-thirds of the company. Silversea now operates a fleet of smaller boutique cruise vessels with passenger capacity between 100 and 700. The company's business model focuses on yacht-like vessels in the ultra-luxury all-suite cruise ship category. Silversea's all-inclusive fares include beverages (including selected wines), gratuities (none are expected), travel insurance, port charges, and one or more shore excursions (depending on the voyage).

The 596-passenger Silver Muse is an all-suite, ultra-luxury cruise ship. The keel-laying ceremony was held on December 10, 2015, during which the shipowner welded eight coins (instead of the traditional single coin) into the keel. The company's spokesman explained that the lucky coins represent the seven continents visited by Silversea ships, plus a specially designed coin for Silver Muse.
Decks and Cabins
Silver Muse staterooms (306 total) are all categorized as suites, and 96% feature step-out balconies. The ship also has the largest number of connecting cabins in the Silversea fleet.
Suite sizes range between 390 and 1970 ft2 (36-183 m2). Silver Suites (increased to a total of 34) are located on the ship's three upper decks. The new category 2-Bedroom Silver Suite is sized 1120 ft2 (104 m2), including the terrace (130 ft2 / 12 m2).
The ship has 11 decks, of which 8 are passenger-accessible and 7 have cabins.
Each cabin features a private step-out balcony, walk-in closet, electronic safe, chest of drawers, and a marble bathroom (bathtub, separate bathtub/shower, sink/WC area, plush robes and slippers by Etro, towels, and luxury bath products—Bvlgari by default).
All cabins are fully wireless and include iPod docking stations, hairdryers, alarm clocks, binoculars, and umbrellas. Additional amenities in Owner, Silver, and Grand Suites include 2 hours of complimentary worldwide satellite phone use, in-cabin dining (afternoon canapés), and a private dinner at the Officer's Table. Junior attendants and butlers are assigned to each suite.
Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks
Silver Muse offers 8 dining options, including 3 al-fresco venues. The menu selections emphasize gourmet cuisine and creative presentation. The Hot Rocks grill menu and La Terrazza dinner offerings represent a modern approach to gourmet dining at sea. Gratuities are included in the cruise fare, and no additional tipping is expected.
Follows the complete list of Silver Muse restaurants and food bars.
- Atlantide (steakhouse, bar & grill restaurant, reservations-only; features designer seafood dishes and gourmet fish specialties)
- 7 Restaurant (open-seating dining room with high-quality gourmet cuisine; features mainly Mediterranean-inspired dishes, plus a standard menu with daily specials; all three meals are waiter-served and a la carte)
- La Grande Dame (called Le Champagne on other Silversea ships). La Dame is a 24-seat upscale French cuisine specialty restaurant serving signature dishes by Relais & Chateaux. This is the only shipboard restaurant where dining is offered at an additional charge. La Dame is dinner-only and reservations are required.
- Kabuki (Japanese cuisine specialty restaurant, reservations required) with teppanyaki iron griddles used for evening meals. Sushi and sashimi are offered during the day.
- Silver Note (jazz club with live performances) also serves tapas-style dishes.
- La Terrazza (Terrace Cafe; complimentary buffet restaurant) offers indoor seating and an alfresco terrace with interactive food stations (olive oil cellar, mozzarella bar, seafood bar, salumeria, Italian-style deli). Wine is complimentary, while premium wines from the Connoisseur’s Wine List are available at extra cost. Afternoon Tea is also served. Each evening (7-9:30 pm), La Terrazza transforms into an Italian specialty restaurant (reservations required) with an a-la-carte menu. During the day, it is open for buffet-style breakfast and lunch.
- Hot Rocks (alfresco poolside restaurant) is an outdoor steakhouse and seafood restaurant for gourmet dining under the stars. This open-air grill venue features Silversea's interactive dining concept "Black Rock Grill Experience", allowing guests to cook fresh seafood and prime steaks on heated volcanic-rock plates at their table. During the day, Hot Rocks serves as a rotisserie plus gourmet salad and burger bar.
- Regina Margherita (outdoor poolside pizzeria) is complimentary and open from morning until late evening. The restaurant serves pizzas baked in a custom-made wood-fired oven.
- La Dolce Vita (Main Dining Room)
During the 2025 drydock, the Asian specialty restaurant Indochine was replaced by S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste). The new venue is part of Silversea's culinary program offering destination-focused dining experiences through SALT Kitchen, cooking classes in SALT Lab, and themed shore excursions.
Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport
Entertainment onboard Silver Muse is more relaxed compared to larger cruise ships. Activities include bingo, trivia games, golf competitions, movies, and evening entertainment such as Broadway-style productions and live jazz performances in The Theater.
Onboard amenities include movies-on-demand and interactive TV services. Passengers can check messages, review onboard accounts, or choose from a wide selection of movies. Smart TVs feature advanced hybrid UHD technology with integrated Internet access and interactive functions. Cabin TV programming includes channels such as CNN International, Fox News, ESPN, and BBC World.
Eight guest laundry rooms are available and complimentary. Laundry, dry-cleaning, and pressing services are also available through the complimentary butler service assigned to each suite.

Follows the complete list of Silver Muse lounges, clubs, and entertainment venues for kids, teens, and adults.

- Swimming Pool (saltwater pool heated during cooler cruises; the sun deck includes teak loungers, 3 whirlpools, and table tennis)

Itineraries
Silver Muse's itinerary program features "all-inclusive luxury" voyages in Europe (Mediterranean cruises from homeports such as Civitavecchia-Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Piraeus-Athens, and Istanbul), Alaska, Asia, and Australia-New Zealand.
After the inaugural European season (2017), the ship crossed the Atlantic to Canada and the USA to operate itineraries in the Caribbean and South America, with roundtrip departures from Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida USA).
Silver Muse's first World Cruise was scheduled for 2019.
Following the two-year pause due to the Coronavirus crisis, the ship resumed operations on May 19, 2022, with a summer Alaska season operating between Seward AK and Vancouver BC. She was then redeployed to Australia and New Zealand for the winter 2022-2023 season via Asia.
Silversea's "flight and cruise" package deals (through the company's "Silver Sky" program) include the luxury cruise fare, discounted round-trip Economy Class airfare, and airport-pier-airport transfers.
Silversea's "hotel and cruise" package "Silver Shore Simply Hotel" offers overnight 5-star hotel stays with the option to add transfers or upgrades. The upgraded cruise-and-hotel package ("Silver Shore Grande Hotel") includes 1-3-night stays at landmark or boutique hotels and private transfers (airport-hotel and hotel-pier).

Silver Muse Wiki
The vessel is an upgraded (larger) version of Silver Spirit (the fleet's largest until 2017). The Muse ship redefines ultra-luxury cruising by enhancing Silversea's hallmarks—small-ship intimate travel, spacious and comfortable suite accommodations, impeccable service, and exotic itineraries around the world.
Silversea's Muse ship was built by Fincantieri in Genoa Italy. In July 2015, Silversea announced that the vessel would become the company's new flagship, with delivery scheduled for April 2017. Construction started on July 24, 2015, with the steel-cutting ceremony at the Sestri Ponente shipyard (Genoa).

On December 10, 2015, the keel-laying ceremony was held, during which eight coins (instead of the traditional single coin) were welded into the keel. The "lucky coins" represented the seven continents visited by Silversea ships, plus one specially designed coin for the vessel. The coins included the South African rand, Australian dollar, US half dollar, Brazilian real, Italian euro, Singapore dollar, and the commemorative Antarctica Trust coin designed for Silver Muse. The ceremony was attended by Enzo Visone (Silversea's CEO) and Raffaele Davassi (the shipyard's director).
In early February 2017, Silversea announced that the ship would operate roundtrip voyages from homeport Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), beginning with an inaugural cruise in October 2017. The company signed an agreement with Port Everglades to homeport the ship there during the winter seasons for two years (2017-2018), with an option to extend the agreement for an additional three years—ensuring a minimum of 12 itineraries per year.
In early March 2017, Silversea announced the names of the ship's senior officers. The vessel's Captain was Alessandro Zanello, who had worked for the company since 1999 and served as Silver Spirit's second-in-command between 2009 and 2017. The Executive Chef was Anne-Mari Cornelius (Executive Chef on Silver Whisper between 2005 and 2017). The ship's Cruise Director was Jimmy Kovel (with the company since 2009). Staff Captain was Sergio Topazio, Chief Engineer Michele Barone, and Hotel Director Paolo Percivale.
On July 1, 2016, the vessel was launched at the Sestri Ponente shipyard. On April 2, 2017, the delivery ceremony took place and was attended by Manfredi d’Ovidio (Silversea's Chairman), Giuseppe Bono (Fincantieri's CEO), Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco (Genoa's Archbishop, who blessed the ship), and Giovanni Toti (Liguria's Governor).
The ship's "Inaugural Cruise" departed on April 10, 2017. The 8-day itinerary (roundtrip from Monte Carlo, Monaco) visited Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca (Port Mahon), Sardinia (Porto Torres), and Italy (Livorno and Portofino). Prices started from US$3550 per person.
On April 17, 2017, the ship's christening ceremony was held at Port Hercule (Monte Carlo) and led by godmother Costanza Lefebvre d'Ovidio—daughter of Silversea's owner Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio di Balsorano di Clunieres. The ceremony was also attended by Prince Albert II of Monaco, Serge Telle (Minister of State), the Archbishop of Monaco, Peter Greenberg (CBS-TV Travel), Geoffrey Kent (founder of Abercrombie & Kent), Gerald Lawless (WTCC / "World Touring Car Championship" Chairman), and other VIP guests. The event was hosted by Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio and featured a live performance by Rome's Sinfonietta Orchestra.
Silver Muse refurbishments review
Drydock 2025
The ship's latest drydock refurbishment took place in November-December 2025 at Fincantieri's Palermo shipyard.
The project included redesigning staterooms and increasing passenger capacity by approximately 7% (from 576 to 632) through the addition of smaller cabins. In particular, Silver Suites (on decks 9, 10, and 11) were replaced by Medallion and Classic Veranda cabins. As a result, the number of Silver Suites was reduced from 34 to 8.
The Asian specialty restaurant Indochine was replaced by S.A.L.T.
The main dining room restaurant (La Dolce Vita) was also reduced in size to create space for new machinery rooms.
The drydocking additionally included general maintenance, technical overhauls, classification and safety inspections, and hull works.
Drydock 2022
The ship's first drydock took place between May 1-14, 2022, at Nanaimo Shipyard in Port Nanaimo (BC Canada). The two-week project focused on "limited operation maintenance" works before the Alaska season (May 19 - September 8), based on 7-day one-way itineraries between Seward AK and Vancouver BC.
Inaugural itineraries 2017
During the inaugural 2017 season, Silversea's Silver Muse operated primarily one-way Mediterranean itineraries, visiting ports along the Italian and French rivieras and the Greek Islands. Departures were from Monaco (Monte Carlo), France (Nice/Villefranche), Italy (Civitavecchia-Rome, Venice), Spain (Barcelona), Greece (Athens), and Turkey (Istanbul). In 2017, Muse visited a total of 130 ports in 34 different countries.
