Oceania Vista Review
Review of Oceania Vista
The 2023-built Oceania Vista cruise ship is the first of two “ALLURA Class” 1,200-passenger vessels, similar to sister ships Marina and Riviera, but featuring several key design changes related to outdoor spaces and passenger accommodations.
The newbuild Vista is the Oceania fleet’s seventh ship. She was constructed by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri in Genoa, Italy (Sestri Ponente Shipyard) and inaugurated in May 2023. Vista’s sister ship is Allura (2025).
Like all fleetmates, the vessel (IMO number 9876957) is Marshall Islands/France-flagged (MMSI 538009952) and registered in Majuro.
History - construction and ownership
Oceania Cruises is a USA-based passenger shipping company and luxury travel brand owned by NCLH-Norwegian (shipowner). Between April 2007 and September 2014, the company (as part of “Prestige Cruise Holdings”) was owned by Apollo Management LP, one of the world’s largest private equity investment firms.
Since September 2014, Oceania and sister company RSSC-Regent have been owned by NCLH, acquired at a total cost of USD 3 billion.
Since January 2026, Oceania has operated as an adults-only cruise line and sea travel brand.

Oceania ships offer luxury cruises with relatively shorter itineraries, as well as Around The World voyages lasting up to 180 days.
Decks and Cabins
Oceania Vista staterooms (613 total in 16 grades) include 149 Suites, 444 Balcony cabins (including 6 Solo/Studio units), and 20 French Balcony cabins. Most accommodations measure 245 ft2 (23 m2). The largest units are the aft-facing Owner’s Suites (1,335 ft2 / 124 m2 plus a 665 ft2 / 62 m2 wraparound terrace).
Unlike other fleetmates, Oceania Vista has no Oceanview cabins (with non-opening windows) or Interior cabins (without windows).
The ship has 15 decks, of which 11 are accessible to passengers and 6 feature cabins.
Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks
Oceania Cruises’ Vista offers a total of 12 dining venues (four of them fleet-firsts), including four reservation-only specialty restaurants, a Lido buffet restaurant, and several casual food bars. Specialty restaurants carry no additional charge but require dinner reservations.
The main dining venues are Jacques (French), Polo Grill (steakhouse), Toscana (Mediterranean), Red Ginger (Pan-Asian), and the Grand Dining Room.
Follows the complete list of Oceania Vista restaurants and food bars.
The Grand Dining Room (two decks high, 340-seat complimentary MDR) features an expanded menu with new items by Chef Jacques Pepin, daily-changing appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees. The venue offers open-seating breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with menus refreshed daily and a selection of French-inspired dishes.
Waves Grill is a casual fast-food venue serving the Pool Deck, offering made-to-order daily specialties and gourmet gelato or fresh-made ice cream. Menu items include burgers with fresh salads, coleslaw, hand-cut fries, Surf & Turf Wagyu Burger, Philly Cheesesteak, and cold sandwiches. In the evenings, Waves Grill transforms into an alfresco pizzeria serving fresh-baked pizzas, grilled Italian specialties, salads, rosemary focaccia with burrata, and desserts such as Nutella pizza.
Terrace Cafe & Bar is a complimentary buffet restaurant open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Terrace Bar also functions as a small pizzeria. In the evenings, Terrace Cafe becomes “Tapas On The Terrace,” serving traditional Mediterranean cuisine. Once per cruise during dinner service, the venue hosts the Indian Corner, offering 15 authentic Indian dishes.
The Lido Buffet’s Sushi Station offers 45 recipes, including two kinds of sashimi, uramaki, three types of nigiri, and a daily vegetarian sushi selection.
The Culinary Center hosts cooking classes and demonstrations, including the “Gourmet Explorer Series” of 20 new classes. “La Technique” is an exclusive class focusing on Jacques Pepin’s culinary techniques. The Culinary Center Dining Room also functions as a VIP restaurant for private dinners and exclusive food-and-wine pairings.
Aquamar Kitchen (24 seats) is a wine bar available at surcharge, offering wine tastings and a seven-course dinner menu.
Toscana (96 seats) is a complimentary Italian specialty restaurant (dinner-only, reservations required), serving traditional Italian cuisine. Menu highlights include Octopus and Truffle Carpaccio with Champagne Vinaigrette, Artichoke-Parmesan Timbale with Black Truffle Sauce, Homemade Gnocchi with Pesto, Lobster Risotto, and Pan-Fried Sea Bass. Oceania Vista’s godmother, chef Giada De Laurentiis, created two signature dishes served exclusively in Vista’s Toscana and Grand Dining Room.
Red Ginger is a Pan-Asian specialty restaurant offering fusion cuisine and a five-course tasting menu (a la carte pricing). The menu features shareable platters, soups, salads, appetizers, seafood, vegetarian and meat main courses, and a variety of sides. Fleetwide since 2026, Red Ginger also offers 12 Nikkei dishes (Japanese-Peruvian fusion) developed by master chef Gustavo Sugay.
Jacques Restaurant (replacing Ember) is a 124-seat specialty venue that is complimentary but requires dinner reservations. Debuting on Allura and added to Vista in 2025, the restaurant resembles a French bistro and serves classic French cuisine. The name honors master chef Jacques Pepin, with menus developed in collaboration with Oceania Cruises’ Executive Culinary Directors Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale.

“Privee” is an intimate private dining room (10 seats) available for booking at USD 1,000 for the entire venue, offering a seven-course Chef’s Table dinner experience.
“The Bakery at Baristas” is a specialty coffee bar and patisserie serving freshly baked pastries.
In October 2015, Oceania Cruises announced plans to combine the Toscana and Polo restaurants into a new venue, “Tuscan Steak.” The restaurant’s design features rich wood paneling accented with platinum and silver. The dinner menu includes items such as Bistecca Alla Fiorentina, Maine Lobster & Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Tuscan Porterhouse Steak, and Iberico de Bellota pork chops. A wine cellar with a curated selection of fine wines is located at the entrance.
- The Grand Staircase is a signature feature of the Atrium Lobby, highlighted by a floor-to-ceiling wire art pillar of crystals.
- Martinis Bar has been redesigned with comfortable seating, custom sculptural lighting, and a grand piano for live evening performances.
- The Grand Lounge features cozy alcoves with sectional sofas and armchairs, a gold-infused color palette, sculptural lighting, and contemporary artworks.
- Horizons (observation lounge and bar) offers wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows, a central circular bar, ample seating, white-glove Afternoon Tea service, and live musical performances.
- Pool Deck features a rectangular swimming pool flanked by two large Jacuzzis, surrounded by sun loungers and tables. The sundeck spans two levels, with the upper deck offering shaded wicker furniture, daybeds, and deckchairs.
New dining options (nine) are exclusive to Oceania Cruises’ ALLURA-class ships (Vista and Allura). Further details on these culinary experiences, as well as public spaces and staterooms, were gradually revealed following the ship’s launch.

Oceania Vista Wiki
On January 8, 2019, shipowner NCLH (Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd) announced a shipbuilding order with Fincantieri for two vessels planned for Oceania Cruises. Both units are of the new ALLURA Class and form part of the fleet expansion project OceaniaNEXT. The newbuilds were designed and constructed by Fincantieri and delivered in 2023 (Vista) and 2025 (Allura).
The vessel (Fincantieri Sestri Ponente hull number 6308) is registered to shipowner NCL BAHAMAS LTD, while the current ship manager is O CLASS PLUS ONE LLC.
The 67,000-GT ALLURA-Class ships have a capacity of approximately 1,200 passengers and 800 crew members. These mid-sized cruise vessels are similar in design and amenities to Oceania’s 2011–2012 newbuilds Riviera and Marina. The contract price for each vessel is approximately EUR 575 million. NCLH secured export credit financing under favorable terms to fund 80% of the total contract price, subject to certain Italian government approvals. As of 2019, NCLH had 10 cruise ships on order scheduled for delivery through 2027, including seven for NCL-Norwegian, two for Oceania, and one for RSSC-Regent.
MS Vista was launched (floated out) from drydock at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard (Genoa) on February 25, 2022. The ceremony was led by godmother (madrina) Anna Trucco, a shipyard employee, and attended by Giuseppe Torrente (Shipyard Director) and His Excellency Monsignor Tasca (Archbishop of Genoa).
On February 27, 2023, Oceania announced that Vista’s godmother would be Giada Pamela De Laurentiis (born 1970), an Italian-American chef, restaurateur, and television personality. Giada De Laurentiis hosted the Food Network culinary TV show “Giada at Home” (215 episodes, 30 minutes each, aired 2008–2015). She owns two restaurants in Las Vegas, Nevada: Giada (opened in 2014 at The Cromwell Las Vegas Hotel & Casino) and Pronto by Giada (opened in 2018 at Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino).
For the ship’s outfitting, Fincantieri contracted LTH-Baas AS (founded in 1934 and based in Tallinn, Estonia), a marine turnkey provider of integrated services for both passenger and merchant vessels. During Oceania Vista’s construction, LTH-Baas completed more than 500 different works, including the installation and testing of pipelines, exhaust systems (gas boilers, steam, condensate), evaporator and reverse osmosis systems, freshwater cooling systems, potable water tanks and distribution systems, swimming pool water-filling systems, fire safety and fire-extinguishing systems, open-deck washing systems, air control and heat recovery systems, as well as final outfitting of passenger staterooms.
Oceania Vista (hull number 6308) was officially delivered on May 1, 2023. The christening ceremony, held on May 8, took place in Valletta Harbour, Malta. The event was led by the ship’s godmother and attended by Frank A. Del Rio (Oceania’s President) and his son Frank Del Rio Jr (Oceania’s Chief Sales & Marketing Officer). Entertainer Harry Connick Jr (born 1967), an American jazz singer, pianist, actor, and television host, performed a one-hour concert onboard.
The naming ceremony was the highlight of the “VIP Christening Voyage,” a seven-day roundtrip itinerary from Civitavecchia (Rome) with a port call in Naples.
In April 2023, Oceania signed an agreement with the premium brand “Chapter 7 Whisky” (established in 2014) to create an exclusive 20-year-aged Chapter 7 special cask whisky. The limited edition comprised a total of 304 bottles and was produced to celebrate Oceania’s 20th anniversary, as well as the launch of Vista. The bottles were available for onboard purchase only during Oceania Vista’s inaugural 2023 season, via Harding+ (part of Harding Retail UK).
World Cruise 2027
