Viking Prestige Review
Review of Viking Prestige
The 2011-built Viking Prestige cruises on the Danube River through Austria, Hungary, Germany, and Slovakia, with departures from Budapest and Passau.
Preceded by her sister ship Viking Legend/now Dutch Harmony, the vessel is Viking's second pre-longship “green” ship. Both vessels operate with hybrid diesel-electric engines, producing fewer vibrations and ensuring a quieter cruising experience.

The vessel (ENI number 7001942) is currently Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057374) and registered in Basel.
Cabins
The ship is designed for optimal scenic viewing, featuring French balconies, large picture windows, and hotel-style beds. Guests can also enjoy the open-air decks during cruising. Viking Prestige offers 97 outside staterooms, including 67 French Balcony cabins, 22 Standard cabins, 6 Single cabins, and 2 Suites across a total of 9 categories.
Cabin types and categories (number, location), from highest to lowest:
- Suites (French Balcony) - x2 AA (Deck 3)
- Balcony Staterooms - none
- French Balcony Staterooms - A (x33, Deck 3), B (x23, Deck 2), C (x10, Deck 2), CS/Single (x5, Decks 1-2-3)
- RiverView Staterooms (Picture Window) - Standard (all on Deck 1: 16x D and 8x E)
Shipboard facilities
The observation-style Prestige Restaurant (main dining room) and deck feature large panoramic windows. The ship’s lobby atrium also includes a seating area with expansive observation windows. The Sun Deck offers 360-degree views and a shaded seating area.
Additional facilities include an onboard boutique, library, and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the vessel. The Aquavit Terrace provides al fresco dining at the Prestige Lounge’s outdoor seating area.
The vessel does not feature a gym, pool, jacuzzi, or spa.
Viking Prestige cruise deals include Wi-Fi internet, all tours and excursions, ground transfers, live evening entertainment, daily lectures, food and wine tastings, 24-hour coffee and tea, and daily replenished bottled water.
Viking Prestige river cruise prices are per person and based on double occupancy. These rates are indicative and may vary depending on booking conditions, including travel agency promotions, special offers, discounts, group bookings, or last-minute deals. On select Danube itineraries, the line may offer roundtrip USA airfare discount deals on specific cabins, itineraries, or departure dates.

Viking Prestige Wiki
Transfers to/from the Viking Prestige and airport meet-and-greet services are included in the fare only when air travel is purchased through Viking.
The Malta-flagged riverboat Viking Prestige (ENI number 07001942, MMSI 269057374) is one of the two oldest Viking vessels preceding the "Viking Longship" series. The other ship in this class is Viking Legend/now Dutch Harmony. Both riverboats feature advanced marine technology, including hybrid diesel-electric engines and SDS propulsion ("Silent Drive System"), significantly reducing noise and vibration during navigation.
Viking Prestige was launched in 2011 and christened by Mrs. Janice Farrar Titus, wife of Warren Titus. Janice Titus previously worked with several leading luxury cruise companies, including "American President Lines", "Seabourn Cruise", "Pearl Cruises", and "Royal Viking Line". Her husband, Warren Titus (who passed away in 2009), was the founder of "Royal Viking Line" (operational between 1972-1998, later sold to NCL-Norwegian) and is widely regarded as a pioneer of modern cruise travel.
The ship’s christening ceremony was held in Amsterdam on May 11, 2011.
