Viking Sigyn Review

Review of Viking Sigyn

The 2019-built Longship Viking Sigyn is one of the 6 Viking River Cruises ships delivered in 2019. The other sister ships launched that year are Einar, Sigrun, Tir, Ullur, and Vali.

These riverboats are deployed in Europe on the Rhine and Danube rivers.

Each Viking Longship features an innovative corridor configuration (patented design), modern engineering and technologies, signature Scandinavian-themed decor, premium stateroom amenities, itinerary-based and expert-led enrichment programs, themed onboard entertainment, and efficient use of public spaces. Notable features include Viking’s signature Aquavit Terrace lounge and a high number of balcony cabins, including two of the European river cruise industry’s largest suites, each with a separate bedroom and living room.

The ship’s 7 Veranda Suites offer two separate rooms—a living room (with a step-out balcony) and a bedroom (with a French balcony). There are also 39 Veranda Staterooms.

The Observation Lounge features floor-to-ceiling glass doors offering panoramic views. The Sun Deck includes sunbathing and shaded seating areas and provides 360-degree scenic views. Additional facilities include an Atrium (lobby), Library (Internet lounge), Shop (gifts and souvenirs), Sky Bar, Herb Garden, putting green, walking track, and shuffleboard. The Longship does not have a gym, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, or spa.

Viking Sigyn cruise deals include Wi-Fi Internet, all tours and excursions, ground transfers, live evening entertainment, daily lectures, food and wine tastings, 24-hour coffee and tea, and replenished bottled water.

Viking Sigyn river cruise prices are per person and based on double occupancy. These rates are indicative and may vary depending on travel agency promotions, special offers, group bookings, or last-minute deals. On select itineraries, Viking may offer discounted round-trip airfare from the USA.

Viking Sigyn Wiki

In 2019, together with Sigyn, Viking River Cruises launched the Longships Vali, Einar, Sigrun, Tir, Ullur, and Helgrim. The seven-ship “virtual” naming ceremony was held on March 19, 2019, via satellite connections across four river ports—Basel, Switzerland (Sigrun and Einar), Rostock, Germany (Ullur and Sigyn), Brunsbuttel, Germany (Vali and Tir), and Oporto, Portugal (Helgrim). Viking Sigyn’s godmother is Rikke Semb Pertile (Viking Ocean’s Senior Manager of Onboard Entertainment and Enrichment).

Transfers to and from Viking Sigyn, as well as airport meet-and-greet services, are included in the cruise fare only when airfares are purchased through Viking Cruises.

Viking Sigyn is part of the latest generation of Viking Cruises Longships. This patented river cruise ship design allows for larger accommodations without reducing public space or compromising overall comfort. The vessel represents the company’s latest Longship-class design, featuring energy-efficient hybrid engine technology, solar panels, and interior design by "Yran & Storbraaten" (Norway). The patented “Longship” concept ("Rottet Studios", USA) enables significantly larger passenger accommodations with full-size balconies. Additional cabin space is achieved by shifting the corridor off-center by 1 m (3.3 ft).
