Viking Ve Review
Review of Viking Ve
The 2015-built Longship Viking Ve cruises on the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers, visiting destinations in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia.
This Viking Longship is named after Ve (meaning “shrine”). In Norse mythology, he is the brother of Vili (son of Bestla) and Odin. Together, the three gods slew the primordial giant Ymir, ending the age of the giants. From Ymir’s body, they created the heavens and the earth. From two tree trunks, they formed the first human couple—Askr (man) and Embla (woman). Ve gave them their physical form and the abilities to see, hear, and speak.

The vessel (ENI number 7002015) is currently Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057517) and registered in Basel.
Cabins
Viking Ve has a total of 95 cabins (including 9 Suites, 22 French Balcony cabins, and 25 with non-opening windows) across 8 categories. The Longships feature two Explorer Suites (the largest accommodations in Europe) and seven Veranda Suites (two-room suites with a veranda and a French balcony). The 39 Veranda Staterooms offer full-size step-out balconies.
Cabin types/categories (number, location), from highest to lowest:
- Suites – ES (2, Deck 3), AA (7, Deck 3)
- Balcony Staterooms – A (20, Deck 3), B (17, Deck 2)
- French Balcony Staterooms (with floor-to-ceiling glass doors) – C (5, Deck 3), D (15, Deck 2)
- RiverView Staterooms – E (18, Deck 1), F (7, Deck 1)
Shipboard facilities
Viking Ve features the same design elements as other Viking Longships, including deluxe accommodations, streamlined Scandinavian interiors, and advanced engineering. A signature feature is the all-weather Aquavit Terrace, which brings outdoor scenery indoors, allowing guests to enjoy river views and al fresco-style dining in any weather. All Viking Longships, including Viking Ve, feature organic herb gardens and onboard solar panels. Their hybrid engines are energy-efficient and designed to minimize vibration for a smoother ride.
Dining venues include the main Restaurant and the Aquavit Terrace (alfresco). Additional facilities include an Observation Lounge, Atrium (lobby), Library (with Internet access), Shop (gifts and souvenirs), and a top deck with a shaded relaxation area, Sky Bar, herb garden, putting green, walking track, and shuffleboard. Viking Ve does not have a gym, pool, jacuzzi, or spa.
Viking Ve cruise fares include Internet (Wi-Fi), all tours and excursions, ground transfers, live evening entertainment, daily lectures, food and wine tastings, 24-hour coffee and tea, and replenished daily bottled water.
Viking Ve river cruise prices are per person, based on double occupancy. These are indicative rates and may vary depending on travel agency promotions, special offers, discounts, group bookings, or last-minute deals. On select itineraries and departure dates, Viking may also offer discounted roundtrip airfare from the USA.

Viking Ve Wiki
Transfers to and from Viking Ve, as well as airport meet-and-greet services, are included in the cruise fare only when airfare is purchased through the Viking cruise line.
Viking Ve is part of the latest generation of Viking Cruises Longships. This patented river cruise ship design allows for larger accommodations without reducing the size of public areas or compromising overall comfort. Viking Ve represents the line’s advanced Longship-class concept, featuring energy-efficient hybrid engine technology, solar panels, and interior design by “Yran & Storbraaten” (Norway). The patented Longship design (by “Rottet Studios,” USA) enables significantly larger staterooms with full-size balconies. The additional cabin space is achieved by shifting the deck corridor off-center by 1 m (3.3 ft).
The riverboat’s godmother is Mrs. Miriam Kajuchova, a long-serving Viking employee (Housekeeper). Other Viking Cruises Longships launched in 2015 include Astrild, Beyla, Eir, Gefjon, Lofn, Mani, Mimir, Modi, Skirnir, Vidar, and Vili.
