AmaVenita Wiki

The APT AmaVenita boat was originally named AmaVista (ENI number 07002005) and is the eighth vessel in the newest generation of AmaWaterways’ Concerto-class river cruise ships. Her sister ships include AmaBella, AmaCerto, AmaPrima, AmaReina, AmaSerena, AmaSonata, and AmaVerde. This latest APT river cruise ship design features the innovative “Twin Balcony” staterooms, which combine a classic French balcony with a second, covered open-air veranda for use in all weather conditions. Each of these riverboats is powered by two Caterpillar marine diesel engines (model C32 DITA ACERT, V-12) delivering a total power output of 1900 kW / 2550 HP.

The vessel’s hull and superstructure were constructed at the Vahali Shipyard in Belgrade, Serbia. The shipyard is operated by the 1923-founded Dutch shipbuilding company Scheepswerf En Machinefabriek Vahali BV, which owns facilities in Serbia (Belgrade and Zasavica) and the Netherlands (Gendt). Vahali Shipyard Zasavica was officially opened in 2013. After the initial construction phase in Serbia, AmaVenita was towed to the Vahali shipyard in Gendt, Holland, for final outfitting.

The ship was launched in 2015 under the name AmaVista, which was later changed to AmaVenita. The christening ceremony took place in Wurzburg, Germany. The vessel’s godmother is Mrs. Rebekah McGeary, wife of APT Touring company founder Mr. Geoff McGeary. Both Mr. McGeary and their son Robert attended the ceremony, along with the Mayor of Wurzburg, Mr. Christian Schuchardt, as the featured guest.

All AmaWaterways ships, including AmaVenita, offer complimentary bicycles (stored on the ship’s sundeck) for use during shore excursions and tours at each port of call along the cruise itinerary.
