Viking Jarl

The 2013-built Longship Viking Jarl cruises on the Danube, Rhine, and Main rivers, visiting Holland, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, and Belgium, with departures from Amsterdam, Budapest, and Nuremberg.

This Viking longship is named after Jarl – in Norse mythology, the noble son of the god Heimdal, who, disguised as a human, fathered Jarl and his two brothers, Karl and Thrall, thus creating the three main social classes: nobility (earls), freemen, and serfs.

The vessel (ENI number 7001970) is currently Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057420) and registered in Basel.

Cabins

Viking Jarl has a total of 95 cabins across 8 categories. She offers two Explorer Suites with 270-degree views and private wraparound verandas. The seven Veranda Suites feature two full rooms, a veranda off the living room, and a French balcony in the bedroom. There are also 39 Veranda Staterooms, 25 Standard Staterooms (with non-opening windows), and 22 French Balcony Staterooms.

Shipboard facilities

Viking Jarl’s dining options include the Jarl Restaurant (main dining room) and the Aquavit Terrace (al fresco). The Aquavit indoor-outdoor terrace is located at the bow and is an ideal spot for relaxation, along with the Sun Deck, which offers shaded seating areas and 360-degree views. The Observation Lounge and Bar feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors for panoramic views. Other facilities include an Atrium (lobby), Library (with Internet access), Shop (gifts and souvenirs), Sky Bar, Herbal Garden, putting green, walking track, and shuffleboard. The longship does not have a gym, pool, jacuzzi, or spa.

These itineraries include passage through the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal (Germany), visits to 5 countries (Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Holland), and 13 complimentary land tours/excursions. On departures from Budapest, sailing begins in the evening of Day 2 and ends in Amsterdam (with an optional 2-night Amsterdam hotel package). Disembarkation in Budapest includes an optional 3-night Prague hotel package (Czech Republic).
• "ROMANTIC DANUBE" – 7-day cruises from Nuremberg to Budapest and in reverse. These itineraries include visits to 3 countries (Austria, Germany, Hungary) and 6 complimentary land tours/excursions. Disembarkation in Nuremberg offers optional 2-night Nuremberg or 3-night Prague hotel packages. On departures from Germany (Nuremberg), sailing begins on Day 2 with a cruise through the Main-Danube Canal (including lock passages) and ends in Budapest (optional 2-night hotel package).
• "PASSAGE TO EASTERN EUROPE" – 10-day Danube cruises from Budapest to Bucharest and in reverse.
